Just finished soaking my sz 32 and really shocked / disappointed by the shrinkage in the leg opening.. 7.3 after hot soak, about no shrinkage. Everywhere else has shrunken properly though, really strange. Don't really know what to do at this point maybe put them on the market and try for another pair and request they pick out one with a smaller leg opening? Saved up for a while for these and am really let down right now..

7.3 is TINY!, whatever you may be thinking about this situation, you will be fine.  It's not like a 7.3" opening will hang over your shoes  ;D.  Seriously!

Boil water (or hot tap water) and pour it into a bucket.  Dip the hems in the water and soak 10, 15, 20 minutes whatever you like.  Then dry them quickly (in the sun or in the dryer, i recommend in the sun).  Theoretically you should have some shrinkage left in the 18oz. raw denim.  Hot water, fast drying should get the rest out for you.

How much shrinkage were you hoping for?

I've only ever get a maximum of about 0.3 inch shrinkage at the hem on my jeans (even ones which generally shrink more than IH), which is hardly noticeable at all.

Give them a chance before you make a final decision.

If the waist shrinks about 3% (1 inch out of 30), then the most the hem will shrink is 3% of 7.3.  That is only 0.2 inch.

I think you should be okay. Keep in mind that raw denim will shrink the first couple of washes. 7.3 is prettynarrow if you ask me…

              why so serious?

Yeah I'll definitely give them another soak. I'm wearing a sz 30 in 301s right now and wanted more room in the top block while keeping a similar fit in the leg, and ideal leg opening would be ~7 in for me which I know won't happen but I'm worried because I saw virtually no change in the original measurement. Even my 301s shrunk about the same amount as this pair except with this one, it didn't shrink at the hem

No luck with another soak on these, leg opening is 7.25 now and after checking the other measurements these things really didn't shrink at all anywhere else.. real shame and so much for sanforized. They're up in the marketplace if anyones interseted

You should give them a machine wash at 60 degrees for two hours. You'll get some more shrinkage…
Why didn't you ask Paula or Giles to send you the pair with the smallest leg opening?

                    why so serious?

Yes, definitely. The are raw unsanforized.

I have deleted a lot of posts.  Nothing was being gained from the discussion.

I am going to try and invent an anti-shrinking machine.  That way I can shrink every pair of jeans, publish the results and then de-shrink them.  That should fix quality control.

Deleting that ridiculous argument is the very definition of quality control.

The narrow leg definitely makes the shoes look very 'chunky', but it depends what look you're after I suppose. I reckon it's actually kinda funky and different (in a good way).

                                        Keep mixing it up!  🙂
