Man, these are some look looking denim.  I was going to go for the 25 oz 634s as my second pair, but these are giving me second thoughts.

    Guitars, denim, and astronomy

    666PD, Vulcans, 666SII, 666D, and 666XHS

Caved in and got a pair - hot soaking them right now.

This is my first foray into the 18oz denim, and my question: will it shrink much on a 2nd soak, or is one enough?

This is going to sound flip, but the truthful answer is  - not if you got all the shrinkage out in the first soak. and yeah, you won't know till the second.  But if you did it good and hot and gave it them some decent agitation, you will have got rid of most

Is the similar denim used on IHxB01xRAW?

It is the same denim as used in:

            IH-666S, IHXB01RAW, IH0526BJ and IH-555-02 (and IH-666Sod, but that is OD'd)

Thanks for clarifying. Was thinking if they are the same denim…

Thanks. Think I might leave it at one soak. The water was pretty hot, and they looked damn agitated when I took them out.  😛

They are looking damn fine. Can't wait till they dry.

I'll put up pics soon. I've only tried them on briefly so far, but I'm loving the fit - a little lower in the rise than many IH jeans. I find it amazing how different the 18oz denim is from the other IH denims.

In the meantime, for those interested here are my pre- and post- soak measurements (IH style).

Very hot water, approximately 1hr soak:
                    waist 33.3 / 32.1
                    thigh 12.7 / 12.1
                    knee 9.0 / 8.7
                    hem 8.7 / 8.5
                    inseam 35.0 / 34.0*

                    • I did stretch the inseam a little while damp to prevent too much shrinkage

I love these jeans and I could give a shit about knives. I got them for the 18oz raw and ODG goodness on arcs and pocket bags. The cut is also a bit slimmer than the 634S, which is wasaaaay better in my opinion. These and my 666D made my year. 🙂

100% agree, Mike. I have zero interest in carrying knives and whatever else, but I absolutely love these jeans.

IMO the fit is closer to the BB, except with a lower rise - perfect!

As one of the designers of these jeans, I'm really pleased that folks are enjoying them past the original intention of them, which was to provide a pair of jeans that would remove some of the need to wear a toolbelt or bring your tools in both hands, under your armpits, and in your mouth. These jeans have really exceeded expectations. Haraki himself said in his blog that he was very proud of this offshore designed item

Only 1 day of wear on these, so everything is still settling.

As said before, LOVE the fit but wonder if it's really part of the 634 family. Perhaps it should simply be the IH Vulcan?

Sorry no pasta jar, Finn  😛

Having had the chance to try these on in Gosport, they felt great - amazing feel to the denim, and for someone with 'rugby player' legs the cut is very good. Unless some W38 IH cords make an appearance in the next few months, these'll be my next jeans 🙂

I love these jeans. I did a 2nd soak, to ensure all shrinkage was out. They def shrunk a tiny bit more. I agitated by hand, both times. They are now a perfect fit. Pics will follow soon, they just need to settle for a couple days.
