Well i'll be shouting for Forza Italia.
Even though Serie A football is in crisis and dying on it's arse (not that Premiership football isn't either) it's great to see an Italian team playing with pride for their country in a style that's a fitting tribute to the great old Italian teams of the past. Classic Italian rock solid defence, a titan in Buffon as captain and keeping things ship shape between the sticks and a maestro in Pirlo at midfield. Couldn't take my eyes off him in the Germany game. He was mesmeric.
That said, for those of us on the economic rubbish tip, it's heartening to see a PIIGS final. Cold comfort but comfort nonetheless.

Premier League football returns this weekend, for those interested, what are your tips for the coming season? For me, it goes…
Champions- Manchester City
Runners Up - Manchester United
Champions League Spots - Arsenal, Chelsea
Europa League - Newcastle, LiverpoolFA Cup - Chelsea
League Cup - ArsenalChampions League - Real Madrid
Europa - Inter Milan -
I only meant that Arsenal will finish third or fourth, depends how well Chelsea blend together, how the new Arsenal strikers perform, and whether Spurs or Newcastle are significantly better than last year. I don't really consider Liverpool, as they just aren't good enough.
Really enjoyed opening day, helped immensely by my team beating the "other" team from North London. I've always had this niggling dislike of Spurs, no idea why.

Sigh, well that was a typical Stoke start to the season. Manage to lead in the first half… "quick lads, it looks like we might win". One stupidly given away penalty later... At least we managed a draw.

It truly is the best league in the world. And if there’s ever not enough entertainment on the pitch then the FA will amuse fans with its brilliant side-shows, such as condemning FIFA for being racist yet continuing the ludicrous John Terry-Anton Ferdinand saga. Which is a bit like the pot calling the kettle a b**** c***.
Let's hope the still-ongoing FA investigation will throw up another gem, like Westminster magistrate Howard Riddle‚s pronouncement that Ferdinand “wouldn’t have the sophistication to make up the allegations”.
Concluding that someone is too unintelligent to be capable of malice has been unheard of in legal circles since Frank Spencer was let off for distributing pornography by motorbike in that episode of Some Mothers Do Have Them.
Going to court is about vindication. But being believed because you’re considered too thick to lie makes for a quite hollow vindication. And if the person you testify against is then still somehow being let off it has no redeeming features at all.
Luckily, if the court got its assessment right, Ferdinand is too dim to understand what was happening anyway and has taken the judge’s comment as a compliment._
