                Amazing images  😃

When I first visited NYC 12 years ago, I told my cousins grandparents about the trip and they were horrified. Apparently, they had been to New York for a week in 1980, and arrived at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on a Greyhound from Miami. When they got off the bus a cop asked them where they were going, and as it turned out their Hotel was about 4 blocks away, the cop told them to take a cab as they would not make it to their hotel with their luggage intact if they walked….they barely left the hotel for their entire trip  :-\

When I first arrived in New York in 2000, with two other English guys, we did not honestly know what to expect. We stayed in the Belvedere on West 48th (which was ok), and in the months running up to the trip I had researched all I could about the city, where everything was, and how far away it was, so I was fairly confident that I knew what I was doing. We arrived at our hotel from JFK at around 10pm, called at the convenience store on the corner of the street (The Green Emporium, great place), and went back to our rooms to chill out and relax. The next morning we woke early and turned the TV news on, the first headline on NY1 was "Two Police Officers Shot Dead In a Raid on a Crack House in Harlem", my friends asked me how far away that was, I told them about three miles.....they didn't want to leave the hotel either  😞

However, we did venture out and found that NYC is an amazing place, full of life, and only experienced if you get out and work with the cities unique rhythm. I have been back 6 times since, it was where I got engaged to Pam, where we bought our wedding rings, and where Tommy developed his love for Batman, Superman, and Ghostbusters (the New York Public Library), and we cannot wait to go back in October to meet old friends and new.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

No trip to NYC is complete without stopping by Whiskey Tavern.  It's an irish style pub in chinatown and it just works.

One of my absolute favorite bars anyway - they even make their own house whiskey in Brooklyn.

Finally making it to NYC in a months time.  I'm pretty well versed in all the standard tourist nonsense, but if anyone has any super local / obscure tips for last week in September then please, recomend away 🙂

                                  Hi,

Would any New York IH members be interested in being interviewed about raw denim and online forums?  If so, I'll be in NY from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th.

More information on the research project in this thread http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=7155.msg392695#msg392695.

I've already met up with a number of SF and Toronto members who can vouch for me.

Please PM or e-mail (nweiner@yorku.ca) if interested.

                                  Cheers,

                                  Nat

Heading back to NYC next week… usual tourist toss of course... but what i need is some good pizza/taco/breakfast spots in the LES.  I'm staying a few streets over from Self Edge  😘  Post here any great spots, else I'll end up in Sweet Chick for food and gravitating back over towards Spring Lounge for tall cans of Mama's Yella Pils like a stupid hipster wanker.  🙂

Hit Lombardi's for Pizza.  Touristy but still damn good.

Also, Keste for Pizza, not too far from where you're staying, even better IMO.

I had some really tasty neoploitian style pizza at piacere, which was in the general vicinity of self edge. If you are into beer check out top hops in the same neighbourhood as well
