We have guidelines for a reason. They are there so that we can try and keep this place a civilised and pleasant place to be.
Do we like banning members? On the whole, no. Personally I hate it when we have to do it. But if we do not follow our own guidelines we will allow this place to become a complete mess.
I had an issue recently with a member who accused me of being really lame when I said that if we did not impose some guidelines and follow through with them, this place would descend into anarchy. He said that on the whole this was a benign place and that there really was no requirement for moderating as on the whole the members were a "nice bunch".
Whilst some of that is true, one of the principal reasons this is a nice place to be and that the member are a "nice bunch" is that the mod team work hard to make it that way. Personally I scrutinise every single member that applies to join and if I think that they are not a genuine person, I do not allow them to join, currently I deny about 10 applications a day. If I did not do that we would have anarchy.
I am passionate about this place not being over moderated and will work hard to ensure that it stays that way, but please believe me when I tell you that there is a mass of stuff that goes on in the background that you do not, and should not see. The moderator team work hard and sometimes have to make difficult decisions, but as Doug has already said, no decision is made lightly, nor is it made unilaterally, we discuss this stuff at length to get a consensus before we do anything.

agreed finn.. so much heat going on. thank God for the moderators else it would have probably been a complete mess.
now that everything is fine, we should all move on and enjoy the forum. i know i do. and i wanna thank all the moderators for making this forum a wonderful place to hang around.

In unrelated news… Home for the week... My hand and foot are a bit of a mess so giving them a week of... Then it's two weeks of holidays...
Good employee that I am, I already (yesterday) went out and straightened things out for today, as in I called a weekendworker to cover for me... Didn't want to call in the morning saying "Hey yeah screw you guys I ain't coming in"... At least give them some good news... That and they don't have to look at my mug for three weeks!..
Now where's that stack of books that needs reading...

Just my opinion, but Rodney Mullen for life, Killian Martin is decades away from the master.
Absolutely could not agree more. Back in the day H Street had by far the best skaters and boards, I would kill for an Eddie Elguera flaming scarecrow board, on most of the Ron Allen models, but yeh Rod Mullen was the man.

Yeah man, Rodney is the god of flatland tricks. Its that whole venice beach skating lifestyle he lives. I posted some videos in the skating thread when he was sponsered by Almost. Him and Daewon went at it.
