Stupid question guys, but I was wondering…do any of you guys alter your fades in any way? Not necessarily cheating, but do you guys keep zippos in the coin pocket, or anything else for that matter, just to get a fade? Or any other pockets?
personally, no…I believe that is quite uncommon amongst us here at IH board. Maybe somewhere else....

I bought a leatherman pocketsize, thought I could use it and if it being clipped in my pocket causes a fade well then..
But stuff like the obvious "fake" ring in the back pocket is pretty silly, but if your a smoker and you buy a zippo and put it in your coin pocket and use it, I think that's legit. Personally I quit June 2007, didn't really feel like dying early

Yeah, I was just wondering. I personally don't do it either. I'd rather have my fades come naturally with whatever I have in my pockets that just happen to fall in there haha.

the fades that come with wearing a zippo, knife, wallet, coins, etc. in your jeans is not cuz we like'em to come, instead they are there cuz we carry and mostly USE such things during our daily activities (smoking, etc.)…
well said finn! i think that's the only way to truly get fades according to you. i have a zippo because i smoke, but it only goes into my coin pocket when i feel like it. my wallet always goes in my jeans cause i feel naked without it

Once u have made the decision to wash ur denim are u then going to start washing more frequently. I ask this because Harris has washed 4times in 7 months and they look awesome…I am use to seeing or hearing to wash is to ruin but not in Harris's case -

No, not the case at all. Just a personal preference thing. Depends on how high contrast you like things.

U know when u 1st find out about raw denim all u hear & read is NEVER EVER WASH but when u actually get involved in the forums u hear the truth. Iv noticed on say Nudie forums (Where I began) people there are like commercialized denim heads the kind that puts brass knuckles in their pockets for fades. In here the people are actually using those brass knuckles…Fekkin Rock n' Roll

I have a buddy who's been into raw denim for like 7 years, mainly somet, but also ROY and others. he's a cool guy too, and he swears to death to the not washing school of thought, he just likes the grungy look and feels its called dry denim for a reason, I disagree and like to wash mine here and there, this is a pic of one of his never washed somet.
To each his own I guess.
