These jeans are a gift and a curse.  The gift is that I never really need more jeans, the curse is that they are so awesome I can't fight the compulsion to own every Devil available.  Giles, please don't make any more Devils, my marriage can't handle the strain.

It's about 4 hours or so to the southeast I guess, I've never been.  The entire east coast is basically beaches so we just go to the ones closest to us in Ocean City, MD.  I hear VA Beach is nice though.

The beaches up and down the eastern shore are very similar.  Some are more touristy than others but it's nice to have them nearby.  It's a bit of a hike though if I ever wanted to ocean soak any of my jeans.

Thanks man! It's a Manastash I got on the inter webs from Hickorees Hard Goods.  It's super fleecy… like I'm wearing a koala bear pelt.

After reading this whole thread, I'm considering grabbing a pair of these as soon as my size is restocked. Those of you who have soaked/washed yours, did you lose any of the sheen? I usually will give my jeans a very gentle wash with Dr. Bronners soap just to remove the starch, but I'd hate to lose the glorious sheen these jeans are known for.

These are sanforized so no starch and no wash necessary.  I started wearing mine in October and don't have a planned wash until they go down for the summer, some time around May.  I highly recommend leaving them be.

i got my pair in october/november (don`t know exactly when)
i soaked it in handwarm water for 5 min. nearly no difference.
so in fact you can leave it as it is!!

it is incredible how slowly they show signs of wear (and i am wearing it every single day).

I've always heard that you should soak new jeans to remove the starch, which can damage denim over time. So far all my experience has been with unsanforized brands (Samurai and Pure Blue Japan). If it's true that unsanforized denim isn't starched, then there's no reason to soak them I guess. Giles?

been checking out the awesome pics on this thread. While looking at the pics, I thought to myself…... When I wear my 1955s cut I get a similiar silohuette.  You are probably asking yourself how is this possible.  Tree Trunks thighs that's how.

Yeah, as long as you aren't in a position to get real sweaty you should be good.  I made the mistake last summer of wearing a pair of very light (non IH GASP!) jeans to a picnic when I clearly should have chosen shorts and washing was the only way to be able to stand wearing them again.  They were straight funky, like Soul Train funky.  Not cool.  They made me want to vomit.

Well, the deed is done. I just placed my order through Self Edge for a size 34.  My Samurai S710xx and Black Shadows are 33's but the waist on both have stretched to almost 35" on those. I'm sure these won't stretch nearly as much, so I think I made the right move going with 34 in these. Fingers crossed.  Now the tortuous wait begins…
