No need to explain yourself Finn. I had no clue what was going on on that plate either.
That said, I would still try it all.

Ron, I'm not scared, I'm super excited…..
Here you go Giles:
Sorry Seul, this post is really not meant to you.
But this is what we chinese eat. EVERYTHING OF THE PIG.
We call this dish "Kway Zhup". Basically, it is a large portion of different parts of the pig braised in a delicious broth and served with a bowl of flat noodles (made from rice).
We usually have the large & small intestine, stomach, regular pork belly meat, and the skin. Fish cakes, eggs are also part of the dish.
The flat noodles
Yummy..This is my grandfather's favourite food, but he can only this at the most twice a month. The amount of cholesterol wont be helping if he have this every now and then.

Yesterday morning, together with my friend, gf, and her mom, we went to the factory outlets to shop for some foodstuff at wholesale prices. First stop, we went to this frozen seafood branch called "Fassler". They import different kind of seafood from all over the world, and they are well known for their salmon products. Definitely not as good compared to the stuff you guys get over at your areas, but this is probably the best place that we can get at these at low prices.
Packed with people when we arrived. My friend was rather disappointed because the Salmon heads (1.50SGD for a huge pack) are all gone.
Boxes and boxes of frozen seafood.
The scallops are huge! Well, at least for me, they are.
Smoked salmon, and fresh salmon sashimi.
In the freezer.
I grabbed only 2kg of US scallops and some soups.Next stop, we went to a few outlets which sells lots of traditional CNY snacks, and they are all filled with people.
CNY cookies
More CNY cookies and snacksLast stop, we went over this outlet call Bee Cheng Hiang that specializes with BBQ sliced pork. Some people might have heard this before. I think they have a few outlets overseas. BBQ sliced pork is a must-have for every Chinese New Year, and it's damn delicious!

More snacks!
Here you go! This photo doesn't show justice to the food!We didn't buy lots of stuff, but it is usually the atmosphere, the crowd, and the music that makes trips like this a must-go every year.

After the shopping trip yesterday, we had a dinner at my cousin's place in the evening. So here is the spread.
For reunion dinners for CNY, we usually have steamboat, and "yu sheng".
This is Yu Sheng, and it's basically a chinese salad dish with raw fish, different veggies, chopped peanuts, crackers drenched in sour plum sauce. There are some also other ingredients in this dish that I could not identify, but what I know is that every single ingredient in this dish has a significance for something. Example, the cracker (or is it the peanuts) signifies "Gold".
Everyone needs to toss the ingredients and mix them up. The higher we toss, the better luck we get! Haha.
My little nephew who got excited, and wants to be part of it.And finally we begin with the main course!
Everyone started to dig into the food, including me, so no more photos. That's all for today, and I hope everyone would enjoy the updates!
