What about suede? How do I clean it up?

snagged this pair of alden's for brook brothers shell cordovan for a good price… but the sole's quite bad. anyone knows what kind of sole is recommended to change to? and what products would you use to buff up the leather? obenaufs LP? saphir? kiwi?

can't decide if a NATO strap or a leather strap(brown?) would look better on this…

I've always applied mink oil on my leather products with my fingers. Is that 'wrong' or is using a cloth more effective(and cleaner of course)…
