Simplest and quickest way to answer your question is to decide how you want to wear it. Based on that, take measurements of a shirt you would like it to fit like. Compare those measurements to the one on the IHUK site and click buy. Don't get too into it or you will inevitably end up sizing wrong and cause yourself a bunch of wasted time. Everyone's body is different and how you like to wear your clothes all depends on you.

Yes, yes, yes…but what you really need to take away from all this, is that you need to buy any other size other than mine.

Ah yes, somehow I forgot to mention that little fact. So, whatever size Shoreman is looking to purchase probably won't fit you. Good luck J-IV

I think you are both in the clear then. Phew, another disaster avoided here on the IH Forum.

I wear IH snap shirts and work shirts in S, tees in M, I'm 5'9" 150 lbs, I have the new IHW-01 in S, and it fits like a shirt, I can wear a tee underneath but I couldn't layer more. I like the fit

I would only go a size up if your regular size is medium. If you normally wear small, stick with that.

                  <_<

That depends, should I get this TTS or size up one?

These were originally designed as a shirt and not a jacket or over-shirt to be used for layering.  I would recommend going TTS so it fits as it was planned to.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll look at the measurements again before I pull the trigger. For those who went TTS, were you able to layer a IH shirt?

There are several posts of what people can and can't layer throughout this thread.

I bought mine to wear more as a jacket, to layer under and for smarter occasions than the IHM-01.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

I wear mine as both.  😎 Confused yet?

We continue to have this dicussion pages and pages later.  It really obviously varies from person to person.  What is the limiting factor in your sizing?

For me, I can fit a medium, but the shoulders start to be tight.  Larges provide more room in the shoulders, but the provide almost too much room in the stomach/waist area.  Then again, I have broad shoulders for my height and this is a consistent problem with me across all brands.  So of course, I would suggest to size up to layer.

The real question you should ask yourself is this.  Do I have another IH shirt?  If the answer is yes, ask yourself how roomy it is.  Could you fit another shirt under it comfortably?  Also, how tight do you like your shirts to begin with?

I guess I just don't understand why there have to be so many pages in this single thread withGiles giving advice to size up to layer, while DrPat always chimes in to say that you should stay true to size.  For new buyers, it is obviously confusing to do this.

I suggest looking at the fit pictures of members and the info on their sizing in the guide Giles has so graciously provided for us.  Giles pics show that he usually goes for a more relaxed fit, while DrPat's pics show that he likes his shirts tight.  In my opinion, the difference between sizes in Ironheart is not that big.  If you want to comfortably layer and like your clothes to fit more relaxed like Giles, size up one.  If you like it to fit tight like DrPat, go TTS.

Out with the new! In with the old!

Appreciate all the feedbacks/tips. I am aware of the constanst questions being asked about sizing and I know how annyoing it can be. Me being lazy, didn't feel like looking through all the pages again and finding out the answer for myself.

I pretty much asked in case the only XS left got taken and I was stuck with the S. As XS is the size I usually get for shirts this is my main choice, but in the unfortunate event it gets taken, using this as an overshirt/jacket would render this to nightime/winter wear in my neck of the woods. And as I've read, this shirt is awesome, so I'd like to wear it more than just nightime/winter.

But anyways, thanks for all the help guys. XS shirt, S overshirt/jacket and M just cause;)

i would call them a very well tailored look.
