you saying that i dont need to initial soak it or literally no need to soak it ever? and if i decide to wash it later in the journey, how much will it shrink and whats best between cold wash and hot wash for these?

No need for an initial soak. Shrinkage is minimal. When you do decide to wash, just check here:

I am new to the Iron Heart community and am curious about the 634s .
I am a bigger guy and am looking into purchasing these great looking jeans but am curious about the fit.
Do the 634s fit closely to 501s? These are the best fit on me so far.
I am a 42 x 32 usually. and my levis have stretched to around a 43.5 ish. I want the jeans to not look too baggy and have a good fit. Thanks for any and all imput.

                    hi mike,
i think the best you can do is to measure the levis jeans you own/wear right now, by following these instructions: http://www.ironheart.co.uk/how_we_measure.html

after that you just have to compare the sizes you´ve measured (from your levis) with the ones from the IH-634s (check "Sizing" here: http://www.ironheart.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=23 ) and then you should be good to go 😉

634S are a bit slimmer than 501's, at least on me. Nothing to add on Finns advise.

There is no such thing as a "501".  There is a '33, a '36, a '47, a '55 a '66, in fact there have been 20 major variants since 1873.  Levi's even change the cut for different geographic regions.

                        The 634S cut most closely resembles a '66 501.

You probably can't compare a 42W fit to my 32W fit, but I can give you my observations from wearing 634s for a few days.  Sizing down one to 31W resulted in a very tight fit.  I struggled mightily with the last button at first, but it's starting to loosen up already.  It's still going to be a tight fit for some time and will likely remain fairly tight for as long as I own them.

As far as the rest of the fit, the jeans ride fairly high on the waist and is fairly tight in the crotch for now.  I have a 32in inseam and had the jeans hemmed to 33in.  This in retrospect is a little too short and I probably would have gone down to just 33.5in or kept them at 34in.  The thickness of the denim means that every slight fold shortens the inseam more than usual.  Eventually I'll have to wear my pair uncuffed  or with minimal cuffs…or sag them a little bit.

634s generally won't be baggy worn true to size and definitely wont sized down 1.

42's are probably the best best.  The 42's will easily stretch to 43.5 maybe more.  They'll definitely have less taper in the legs than 501's.  The 1955's might be a better option and they have more room in the thighs, and taper more than 634's.

I never owned a pair of '55, but I think they are the less tight IH of all.
