A collaboration between Iron Heart and Simmons Bilt, the Pale Rider offers traditional western-shirt styling, made from beautiful Blattwerk horsehide and finished with heavy-duty copper snap fastenings. Wear it hard and it will take on a patina and character that are unique to you and the way you live — just like your favourite pair of jeans.

Similar to the leather used in our IHSB-WJ work jacket, the tanning process for this leather utilises olive-leaf extract as a tanning agent. This award-winning Blattwerk method requires no acid, sulphur, or salts, meaning it is 100% pure, natural, and sustainable — and it also contributes to the local economy where the olives are grown and harvested. Blattwerk horsehide is treated with genuine beeswax to protect it from dirt and environmental influences, allowing the leather to develop a rich, timeworn patina with wear.

Could also be something evocative of land, I’m thinking of Matt’s recent images of southern Utah. The Needles is an area there, and some of the features are called ‘hoodoos’. They are formed by years and years of wind and erosion, like natural landscape patina.
