Adam any needle will do as long as it's easy to work with. Thread is more important.

I'm going to do it this week, hadn't really noticed it before today.

Adam any needle will do as long as it's easy to work with. Thread is more important.

When I am blanket-stitching the buttonhole, is there anything I need to do to secure the old thread to prevent it from continuing to unravel after the repair?

From what I learned online, I was just going to begin the repair stitch within what's left of the original seam, and work my way around the buttonhole.  Will this essentially "knot" the original thread?

Yep you will basically incase the old thread under the new. There is another type of stitch especially for button holes but its a little harder and not common so won't find too much on line. I'll post it over the repair thread to night

On Youtube select share then show options then select the long link then paste it over here.

                                        1. If the video is on YouTube, just view the video and copy the URL in the address bar into the body test of the post.
                                        2. Upload the video to Photobucket and copy the img code into the body of the post
