        @ D97x7:  It's more like what's happening on the bottom of the button-hole in the picture (that's a sad picture  :(), with less fraying and more of the thread unraveling.  ASAP is right, gonna go buy some thread and a needle today or tomorrow.  Anyone know what size needle is best?  I'll look around…

          D97 get that fixed or it will just keep fray away.

          Adam any needle will do as long as it's easy to work with. Thread is more important.

                                When I am blanket-stitching the buttonhole, is there anything I need to do to secure the old thread to prevent it from continuing to unravel after the repair?

                                From what I learned online, I was just going to begin the repair stitch within what's left of the original seam, and work my way around the buttonhole.  Will this essentially "knot" the original thread?

                                  Yep you will basically incase the old thread under the new. There is another type of stitch especially for button holes but its a little harder and not common so won't find too much on line. I'll post it over the repair thread to night

                                          On Youtube select share then show options then select the long link then paste it over here.
