RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
I use these pattern hooks that I got locally from Imogene + Willie here in Nashville. I've tried to source different ones or even make my own, but for $3 a piece they are hard to beat.

Still holding about for a Hickory bib re-release, or a lucky find on the secondary market..
I'd 100% arrive in Hamburg head to toe in that fabric
Oh yea?

RE: What's your IH secret pleasure that nobody knows??
I have a lot, but the ones that jump out first are:
This UHF I have where the lines match up perfectly on the back collar, yoke, and back panel:
How the panels on all IH shirts are always perfectly mirrored. Most notably on UHF pockets:
And how the lines are pattern matched perfectly on seams:

RE: The (Less intimidating) Watch Thread
My Grandfather was a pilot and a navigator in the Navy and Air Forces during WWII. The plane he was on went down somewhere over the Philippines in 1945, and he floated in the ocean for a few days before being rescued. Somewhere over the years, the Type A-11 that he wore (and was wearing at that time) found it's way into my hands. It wasn't working, and is rusted out in areas (obvs) but has always meant a lot to me. I finally found another one from the same maker (Elgin) and the same year (1944) and decided to pick it up. It is also in perfect working order and has a period-correct olive watch band on it! Beyond stoked to be wearing this piece and think of Grandpop every time I put it on!
Here's his original watch, which I have on a shelf on our family gallery wall:
And here is the one I just picked up:

If you just need some time alone, tell your kids that you're in time out and you'll be back in 10 minutes.

RE: Random Announcements
Local denim makers here in Nashville, Imogene + Willie, hosted a Pinewood Derby race in their backyard on Thursday night. I entered on a whim and won first place.
Also, when naming and painting my car, I learned that there were different spelling of Selvage and Selvedge depending on the country. The more you know!

@sabergirl Just 3 for now. 21oz indigo, black wabash, and hickory. The wabash is by far my favorite.

RE: Vans
Would wear those. Now you've got me looking into upcoming collections! Did a few projects with some of the guys from Harris Tweed a few years back. Cool story and cool fabrics.

RE: Random Rants
It wasn't so bad. He's 9 so I was expecting them to get trashed pretty quickly, just not that quickly.
I threw some E6000 underneath the rubber and pushed it back down. It's probably stronger now than any of their pairs leaving the factory. Well, at least on that one section.

RE: Random Rants
Yea my son just got a pair of vans high tops for his birthday last week, and the rubber on the sole around the toe box is already peeling off. Happened after only normal wear to and from school for two days.

RE: Unpopular opinions
And re: anchovies, I wasn't a huge fan of them until I started using them here and there in certain dishes at home. If you ever come to my home and I cook you a meal, especially with some sort of red sauce, chances are it has sardines in it.

RE: Unpopular opinions
While I didn't really watch any of the Guy Fieri shows when cooking tv shows were in their prime (or are they still?) Guy definitely seemed like the person I'd want to hang out in person more than most of them. Just always seemed like he could vibe with anyone anywhere at any time.

Belt loop buddy’s are impossible for me to use. Everyone says they’re so easy. NOPE.
I felt the same way when I was using them the way they said to. I found a different way to do it, and it has made all the difference to me!

RE: What are the essentials
None of it is essential, but I guess the best “starters” are a belt loop buddy in brass or maybe a ball chain bracelet. Eases you into it.
I honestly didn’t “get it” until I listened to Josh on the Iron Cast talk about the business and process. Then I met him at the 20th anniversary party and got to talk with him for a bit.
What most people don’t get with Good Art is that you aren’t just paying money for silver jewelry but rather you are actually buying well-made, well designed, and creatively built pieces of wearable art. Pick and choose your starting point dollar wise, and go only as far as you want to go.

RE: The Mad Red Motherf**ker World Tour.
I’d be up for another leg when it comes back to the U.S. Ideally, it would need to be here around January or February so I could actually get some good wear out of it. Last time, I had it just as the weather was starting to warm up. By late morning, it was already too warm to wear, so I only had a couple of hours each day to enjoy it. That said, I had a great time with it and absolutely loved the jacket!
