Where do people buy their suits from? I need one to interview. Looking for something decent that looks good, but not looking to spend like that RRL $$$$. I'm in nyc if you're recommending a physical store but I'm happy to do online as long as there's a good exchange policy.

I have a Hickey Freeman suit that I got from Nordstrom Rack. You're in nyc so should have no problem finding decent suits or stores that sell them. What's your budget?

That's a good idea to try Nordstrom Rack. I guess I'm looking to spend about $500 which seems average for suiting from what I can tell. I just need something I can wear like a couple times a year when I need to.

$500 is about what I paid for my HF suit. I think it's one of their MiUSA mainline suits. I've found Nordstrom Rack to be hit or miss in my neck of the woods, but you might have better luck with NR, Last Call or Off 5th in NYC as @Appfaff mentioned.

Suggest Suit Supply which has a store in Soho and Kent Wang if you want a MTM suit which they do very well.

I'm leaning towards khaki if my bank account can handle it. Otherwise, brown is my second choice. Lots of vendors carrying it too so i'm not terribly worried about it selling out. Worst case scenario, it sells quickly like the ihm-20, best case scenario, it moves slowly and I manage to nab one. Guess we'll see.

@Giles said the whipcord type III is only being made in olive at the moment.

You might also get lucky and find a nice suit at one of the many second hand stores in the city with money left over for a good tailor.
A well fitted "cheap" suit will look much better than a poorly fitted Brioni.

The only suit I wear now, is a navy blue heavy linen Ralph Lauren Purple Lable that I bought at a Ralph Lauren outlet for under USD200.  I had to let the waist out about 2 inches a couple of years ago, there's no room left for getting any larger…..

Just been sent a photo of me in it at a wedding late last summer….

Very sharp @Giles - @formulapfaff and I went to the Ralph Lauren store in Dallas over xmas and they had quite the assortment of purple label gear. Talk about luxurious products.
