    @madmonday:

which is less expensive or in better shape?

what kind of fit are you going for?

sounds like it might be a good problem to have  🙂

301 is brand new, tried on only once and never been soaked. 666 soaked once, still pretty damn new… both are the same price.

am looking for a tapered fit.(something similar to my unbranded 201). does the 666 sit really low on the hips?

I'm currently looking for a small-ish satchel/messenger bag that I can use for daily use with gear in this range:

                  1. Kindle or "pad" of some sort

                  2. A small camera with a lens attached + 1 or 2 small lenses (think leica m8/sony nex-7 sized camera and rangefinder sized lenses)

                  3. small folder knife, spare batteri, spare memory card, flashlight, sunglasses etc.

I would like this bag to be a saddleback, but alas: neither their satchel or their messenger bag seems geared twoards photographers.

I have a Grafea leather camera bag already, but it does not smell, feel and taste quality, like my saddleback briefcase does.

                  So:

Other leather bag makers that has a rugged, classic look to their gear and that gives me something with either divided main chambers and small pockets within those or external pockets for odds and ends on the outside?

Seize the day and don't you cry.

Giles, you spec'd the 25oz XHS denim, so I'm curious, why sanforized and not raw?

By the way folks, remember it's G specs for quite a lot of this stuff now, the TW 13.5 oz denim, the 27 shirt denim, the 18 oz devil denim, and now the xhs… that's a pretty good resume

                              GREAT QUESTION AS ALWAYS JACO.

*glad it's not a sizing question since this place seems to be getting a bit more than usual recently.  of course no offense to those trying to find their size, it's just i'm not all that concerned with it  😠

Hmm, who makes custom made leather bags that does not cost me an arm and a leg? 😛 I feel that paying more than 350-550 USD for a small-ish shoulder-bag is.. kind of harsh.

                                  1. We had already done a very heavy unsanforised (the 634SR 21/23)
                                  2. We had some of it left and I knew I was going to do something with it
                                  3. We were scared that given how difficult the jeans were going to be to make, we did not want the added unknown variable of shrinkage

Those actually look very good! More spots for my EDC-stuff and still room for a small camera 🙂 Thanks for the tip!

Lucifer, Mastersofdeath's link to Henry Tomkins is a good shout.
I bought  the large satchel from him 18 months ago and I really love it.
I went to see Henry in his workshop in Exeter to sort it out as he makes everything to order - the bloke is as mad a march hare, his workshop is a shit hole but turns out great stuff.
                                        I would recommend.

mvb - I have the Eastman sweater. Fantastic construction and unbelievably warm, however I would say it is a little itchy if worn with nothing underneath. mind you I've not washed it yet, still smells very sheepy too!
My Dad bought a similar one recently which is softer but i'm not sure of the price or indeed where he bought it. I will enquire.
