Jørn-Bjørn Fuller-Gee has been crowned world champion of jeans. Now he is being praised for taking a stand against the fashion industry.
A NEW PAIR OF JEANS: The jeans Jørn-Bjørn Fuller-Gee is wearing when NRK meets him are relatively new. He has worn them for two months. The pair he wore for a year has been sent back to the manufacturer to show what the wear and tear looks like.

Published today at 10:38“It's not because I'm some kind of crazy person or anything like that,” laughs denim enthusiast Jørn-Bjørn Fuller-Gee.
The man from Arendal speaks passionately about his favourite item of clothing, which has made him a world champion.
“It's made from really good-quality cotton, so you can wear it hiking, to work or to a party. It works for everything.”
The story was first reported by Fædrelandsvennen.
And before you even have time to wonder: yes, he washes his jeans regularly.
“Some people say that to get these worn-in effects, known as ‘fades’, you have to go something like 200 days without washing them. I don't give a damn.”
World champion in jeans
A few weeks ago, Fuller-Gee became world champion in jeans, representing all continents except Asia (which has its own separate category).
The participants compete against around 2,500 other “denim heads”, aiming to wear out their jeans in the most natural way possible.
The jeans must originally be of high quality, made from heavyweight denim and left completely unaltered.
He explains that the most important thing in the competition is to wear the jeans yourself.
Passionate about sustainability
Sustainability is the main reason he wears the same jeans every single day, month after month.
“I'm one of those anti-fast-fashion guys. What I mean by that is that sustainability is very important to me.”
If you're wondering, the shirt he is wearing has also been in use for nine months.
According to research by the Norwegian Consumer Research Institute (SIFO) at OsloMet, Norwegians own an average of 378 items of clothing.
Jørn-Bjørn Fuller-Gee says that eventually, his jeans start to feel like sweatpants.
What matters most to Fuller-Gee is that the jeans are made from genuinely high-quality materials.
The jeans he won the world championship with are from Iron Heart Japan.
He has gone swimming in the Mediterranean wearing them, soaked them in whisky and worn them throughout five pitch-black winter months in Northern Norway.
“These jeans can take a beating. They've given me a whole new perspective on life. You can live your life perfectly well without owning a lot of clothes.”
Receiving praise
The denim enthusiast is receiving praise from sustainability expert Kathrine Gregersen, who supports his project.
“The most sustainable garment you can wear is the one you already own.”
She says that the way Fuller-Gee wears his jeans makes them an environmentally friendly garment.
“It's a heavyweight cotton fabric, which gives it excellent durability.”
Kathrine Gregersen works at Det Norske Samlaget and runs Laga Studio, which focuses on craftsmanship and creativity.
However, this is not how most people wear jeans, despite them being one of the world's most commonly worn garments.
“Today, we want skinny jeans, and then suddenly we want flared jeans. Or pre-distressed jeans, with holes or in a particular colour.”
Gregersen says this is where the problem arises.
“The way we're doing things simply isn't sustainable. The mountains of waste keep growing, and the textile industry causes enormous amounts of pollution.”

@ROman None here also. They do not trick or treat like they did years ago.
When I first moved in here I went through 10 bags of candy, I think the older usuals grew out of trick or treating, or moved away, and now younger families are moving in.
