This is my first non-western Iron Heart shirt and it is frighteningly awesome.

    • RE: IHSH-218-BLK - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt "The Johnny Cash III" - Superblack

I just love this shirt so much. I get so many compliments on it and many questions about the brand, which I could talk about for hours. Iron Heart western shirts, to me, are that something so special that you discover one day in life and feel like it was made just for you. Today was a perfect autumn day in Kananaskis, Alberta.

Just got mine in today in size L thanks to The Shop Vancouver. I love my IHSH-218-BLK Johnny Cash III but this IHSH-399-ORA is my new Autumn favourite.

    • RE: IHSH-62-IND - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Indigo

My guess is that the wabash is one of the few shirt materials that is not pre-washed to remove shrinkage. Perhaps to maintain the beautiful contrast of the bleached dots? If my theory is correct, the shirt should be slightly larger than western shirts that are one-washed at Iron Heart. I finally washed my IHSH-62-IND for the first time and went for the warm 40C wash to tighten up the chest and arms. It came out perfectly. The shirt shrank about 1/4" in body length and roughly 1/8" on the sleeves and chest. I compared it to my IHSH-218-BLK (Johnny Cash III) with a tape measure and they are almost identical now with the sleeves of the wabash being about 1/8" longer than the Johnny Cash.

The 397 is my only non-western IH shirt (I am addicted to snap buttons). I also wash inside out with all buttons fastened in a Samsung front loader on gentle cycle with the coldest wash setting. I am going to go as long as possible before laundering this shirt. I just love wearing it but I am leaving a trail of indigo everywhere!

@JunkPants Thank you! It was so nice to finally take some time off of work and spend time with family in the mountains.

    • RE: IHSH-431-BRN - Slubby Heavy Flannel Check Western Shirt - Brown

I used to go size L across the board with all of my Iron Heart western shirts. However, lately I started working out more and find that the shoulders are getting slightly tight with the flannels. My other non-flannel shirts still fit fine. Does anyone here on the forums size up in just the flannels? I am thinking of trying XL in this shirt. The only issue might be the sleeve length. I am a 35" sleeve and it seems the XL flannels average to around a 36" sleeve.

@popvulture said in IHSH-431-BRN - Slubby Heavy Flannel Check Western Shirt - Brown:

@scooby9 I’ve had a similar issue with shoulders and working out, but fwiw I haven’t had any trouble with UHFs, rather just more rigid stuff like leather jackets and hefty denim shirts. Might be worth a try for you to see how you like it, but I’ve found sizing up leaves me with a bigger chest measurement than I want. Just an opinion, but I find that there’s enough flex/softness in the flannel that it hasn’t been a problem yet.

@popvulture you raise a very valid point regarding chest size. I too do not like having too much loose material around the body. My actual chest size is 39" so the XL might be a tad loose in the torso.
