    9060 @ 150 miles or 4 weeks. Have not been wearing them daily due to ice and salt.

    Not sure about them yet. Quality is 1-2 notches below GS. But these seem to be better made than recent generations of IRs. Nice leather midsole. Break in fast.

    Now at 8 weeks. I Walk a lot ™️

    Day 3 of 9060s. Increasing wear. Walked 3 miles to day. They seem to break in a bit faster than what I remember from IRs. But then I always break them in quick and walk a lot.

    It is a well made boot with a leather midsole (rare for RW), which may contribute to the pleasant wear from the get go. No obvious manufacturing flaws.

    The laces are atrocious. Too short and come loose in minutes. Immediately ordered from Pisgah Limited.

    Will post some photos after a bit more wear.

    Overall, seems to be a reasonably good boot. Hoping to get 2-3 years and 2 resoles out of them.

    Just bought a pair of the 9060 yesterday at F&P. Not sure what they have still in stock for sizes.

    Fingers crossed that they fit.

    I had sworn off RW because the newer iterations of IR did not last for me like the old ones. But the 9060 really speak to me and I "needed" a black boots.

    Too late for thunderdome unfortunately.

  • RE: IH-633S - Self Edge x Iron Heart 21oz Selvedge Straight Tapered

    @Mindfulbiscuit makes complete sense. I also have to size up 666 to make them work in the thighs but then the waist gets to wide. So I don't bother with those anymore and stick with 633/4 and 888. Interested in trying the 1955 though - any experience with them?

    size down? they look too tight right now (whole pelvic area under stress), but should be good since they will give about an inch.

    666 won't work because of thighs. 888 you likely won't like because of rise.

    @Brock
    Love the Smeltzer. There is something about the aesthetic of skinny steel tubes, horizontal top bars and fat tires that speaks to me.

    @Denimhead-0
    We share some of the same bikes. Also ride a RS (and have ridden with Richie a few times) and a couple Rivs, EM etc.

    @pechelman You are right on with your command. I wear mine for taking down trees and clearing trails in the winter. When it is under -10 C the air is dry and it is rarely windy. Tech fibers don't work when exercising in the cold ( < -10C), simple physics.

    Plus they were unhemmed and I think 634 looks better hemmed. This is how they should fit. Turns out even though I'm 6'3" I have tiny legs as my inseam is 30".

    Perfect.

    Complete agree on 634 unhemmed. My main issue with hemming is that is designated failure point for ripping / tearing / wearing out.

    Guess I should stop whining about 30" inseam while being 5'11.

    Yeah, product and service have been steadily declining for 10 years since the takeover.

    Comparing a 15 year Tin Cruiser compared to a recent one you think they are from different planets. Now they stopped making them. Same with Red Wing boots and so many others.

    Just happy that IH continues to do what they do.

  • RE: Runners

    @goosehd
    Agree with Nik.
    Lactate lab is best.

    Short of that, establish your max heart rate (warm up, run uphill at max sustainable speed for 10 minutes, rest 5, do it again and take max heart rate of second run --- many other ways available). Subtract your resting heart rate from max and divide range in 5 zones. Add them to resting heart rate.

    Remember that zone 2 is volume training. In order to see benefits (MAF test or just faster at same HR) takes at least 5 hours per week running in zone 2 imho. You can also use running at conversational pace, nose breathing etc. Don't be too dogmatic about it. When running uphill and you pop out of your zone it's fine as long as your HR quickly returns back to zone 2 after.

    If you got back from a 70min z2 run and felt you could do it again you are perfect. That is how it is supposed to feel.

    @Nik Humbling community here in a town of 10,000. Countless Olympians, a current 2:10 marathoner, this years female winner of Ironman Europe and so on. While I am running intervals they jog past me in their zone 2. Perspective can be a bitch.
