@Gavin666 agree on all points, great fit and cut. Part of why I gravitate toward heritage Japanese brands is the fit. For me being tall and slim, just about every American brand is not compatible (tbd on Freenote shirting). There are many other heritage brands with far worse buttoning, but I do think for the price, a more “premium” button may be warranted. The western snaps are very nice, I’m not sure if they are true mother of pearl but that would be cool if they could do it. Freenote does just hit it out of the park on many points but every brand has their quirks. Freenote doesn’t do hidden rivets for example, to me that’s a bummer

Excited to see how these compare to the 888. I let go of my SE 633s since the rise didn’t work for me, I can prolly make an 888 work but this looks interesting

@Giles i have a random question. I got both the purple western and the sax blue work shirt. The purple western fabric feels much “stiffer” and more substantial. Even the weight of the shirt is higher, presumably the snaps add some weight. They’re both similar but there is a that noted difference in the heft of each fabric side by side
Does fabric like this vary across color runs, like do certain bolts of fabric have variation? I’m assuming there is a weight tolerance at the mill. Just curious!

I’ve yet to lay handle on an uhf but the 9 oz does feel summerable because it’s not brushed. Much better than my flat head brushed flannels. It’s certainly not going to behave like a 5oz cotton or linen shirt, but it does breathe well

It’s so easy to second guess your size lol. Like I’ve got to Self Edge and validated that XL/42 is in fact my size across many brands but obviously the size chart rules all. Sometimes the measurements are hard to interpret when measurements fall out of your expected range

Nice. I got the xl in this one and to my surprise it actually fits damn near perfectly so I likely won’t need to shrink this piece, but I have another I might

@Brandrea yeah I think I’m going to take a risk and go with medium. There’s still a lot of smalls in self edge. Worst case scenario and exchange it for a small one. Mediums seem to be sold out on most retailers. I have a medium Yellow ombré flannel that I managed to shrink damn near perfect.
How’d you shrink it?

@ShopatIronHeart are the purple XL measurements borked or am I misreading, the XL chest is 46 total but the sax blue work shirt has a narrow chest and a narrower waist than that. Seems quite large

Super torn on this one! I told myself my next jacket would be the modified type 3 but I really dig this herringbone fabric. I have the indigo version already tho

Howdy folks, this is my first IH jacket and really first heritage jacket. I went for it for lots of reasons namely the zipper. Sometimes it really sucks being tall and thin but IH does a good job.
Wondering if I should try to size down to Lg? I have an XL here bc of my broad shoulders. As seen, it fits well but not “fitted”. Looks great with a flannel and can fit a hoodie snugly
I’m also curious if hot washing/dry might assist to snug it up a touch. No idea how these things drape and break in over time!
6’2” 170lb
19” shoulders
39-40 chest
Thanks folks
