Leave @ioerror's (speaker) political bullshit at the door, ignore his general recommendations and what he's upset about. Do listen to the actual world in which we live.

Having worked in Information Security for quite a few years, a lot of this, up until now was seen as maybe theoretically possible and informed some design practices, but the scope and methods are just amazing. The conference the talk is given to are the leading hackers in the world, all of them were surprised at how far NSA's reach goes. The speaker is legit - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_Appelbaum

Yeah that COC video had me in a terrible mood last night. Greenwald's keynote is also worth watching and Der Spiegel's reporting on this worth reading.

It's tragic that the internet's promise of individual empowerment and connection is being perverted into tighter surveillance on citizens than would ever have been possible without it. And worse, that the sheeple don't seem to give a rip.

@MCL, Very glad the video has seen the light of day, but it does not paint a positive picture of the world. It's going to take a while for me to figure out my posture/protection, if any about any of this. Not a lot that can be done, or done easily to defend really.
