Anyone else fascinated by the Kentucky Derby? Most exciting 2 mins in all of sports IMO

I would love to go someday, for the experience. I don't share the same, sentiments re: the most exciting two minutes in sports, however. I understand that there is an incredible amount that I will never comprehend about the "sport;" but, ultimately, I can't look past the fact that these are animals – not athletes. The dynamics of ownership in horse racing also leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The Olympics' 100 meter dash gets my vote for the best race in sports.

I get that it's a sport for "rich white men" but most of these horses are treated like gold. The few that aren't def leave a bad taste in your mouth

I still think it would be an awesome event to attend, and you can't argue with the tradition.

One of my old roommates and I had many long (slightly drunken) debates about what is and is not a "sport".  One factor we agreed on was that anything not human or gravity powered wasn't a sport.  No horse racing, no auto racing, no sailing.  We disagreed on bicycles and skis…

Anyway, I can't get interested in the Derby.  It just holds no appeal to me.  I love track and field, but for my money, the 400 meters is a better race than the 100.

1. I hate baseball, always have.

2. the Astros are terrible.

3. because of #2, free tickets are really easy to get.

4. also because of #2, we are in the sixth inning of a 9-0 beatdown.

5. the weather is beautiful and the seats are excellent.

Have developed a callous on my left index finger from doing/undoing IH pants. Breaking in 2x23oz + 1x21oz at the same time = game over for my finger.

Oh, and I passed my exam, passing exam comes with $1000 bonus from my employer, woo hoo!
