Not really sure where to start with this one, not really an announcement, or a thing I've been doing today….more of a disturbing and embarrassing story about what happened to me and Pam today.
It started at the beginning of the week, whenever we turned the heater on in the car there was the most god awful smell come through the vents into the car.....like a urine soaked nappy (diaper), but 10 times worse. So we have been driving around cold all week.
Anyway, today we picked Tommy up from school to take him to his swimming lesson, and it was absolutely freezing, so we had to put the heater on in the car. The stench was back, and far worse than ever, so we decided that we would take the car to our mechanic in the morning and get him to check it out. When we got to the swimming centre Pam decided to have a look at the engine, to see if she could spot anything at all wrong, so she lifted the bonnet (hood), and saw.....
A VERY LARGE, VERY DEAD, PARTIALLY COOKED CAT :o :o :o :o :o
It doesn't even end there…...
So we took Tom inside the swimming centre, got him changed and took him to his lesson (all the while not telling Tom what was on the engine). Once Tom was safely in the pool I went to the reception desk and asked if they had a large bin liner that I could borrow (didn't tell them what for obviously), went back to the car, and using plastic bags as gloves, and with Pam holding the bag open I removed the cooked, deceased cat from the engine (well, most of it), and put the cat in the nearest large bin (big council thing on the car park).
We then went back inside, and up to the observation balcony to watch the rest of Tommys lesson, trying to forget the horror that we had just done. Imagine our horror when we arrived at the balcony, and realised that not only did it give a fantastic view of the pool, it also gave a perfect view of the front of our car through a large window, and everyone had seen every gory detail of what we had just done, everyone apart from the kids in the pool thankfully.
No-one said anything, but we got some interesting looks

Apparently the cat in the engine thing isn't that uncommon. Happened to my friend too. I guess they like the warmth of the engine
Not gonna happen in my Juke though…not enough room in the engine even for a cat...
-
Heard of it happening with squirrels, too. Not as common as cats, of course, but other animals like to take naps in warm engine compartments.

Sadly, yes- this is Texas style…

^^
That picture is the perfect description of Texas. Whenever anyone asks about Texas, just show them that. -
In between school and university I was a van driver delivering books to Northern Ireland. It was at the height of the troubles and all cars/vans getting onto the ferry to Belfast were searched by army dudes with machine guns. I sat in the Van, the bonnet was lifted, then I was beckoned out of the van by muzzle of gun and told to tell them what the feck was that thing doing in the engine bay. It was a cat nestled up looking warm and shit scared….

^ Just to mention, that quote from Geo on your sig is genius. I never had the pleasure to speak to the man himself, but I give daily appreciation to his summation of Giles.
