An Iron Heart/Simmons Bilt collaboration. This is our interpretation of a classic type III jacket, made from a vegetable tanned horsehide. Wear it hard and it will take on a patina and character that is unique to you and the way you live, just like your favourite pair of jeans.

Whilst I was very pleased with the idea, I was really pissed off that I had not thought of it 

Made with thinner horsehide that the bareback, this is a thing of utmost beauty.

So people, nickel or brass tack buttons?

My Lawd is that a thing of beauty…and nickel could be interesting.

When this leather darkens down with sunlight and wear to a rich golden tone, the Nickel might have a better contrast then brass or copper…

I think Nickel won’t fade much… brass does and darkens which might look great too

Then I'd switch to brass, actually. With this jacket, you almost have to think about the end color rather than the beginning color.

The nickel is actually nickel-plated brass, so it "fades" to brass on the high points…..

This is one from my 15 year old IH-526J (before we stamped them Iron Heart)......
