Honestly, I prefer Quabaug which Whites use (surprise from the baldy fan boy), but I think aesthetically Cats Paws are really cool.

Mega, Quaboag is the name if my high school and I'm pretty sure the factory, Quaboag Rubber makes them. They also make Vibram soles.

I might have missed it at some point, but are all IHUK orders going out via UPS now? (Can I still get Parcel Force/ Canada Post to Canada?)

Shipping EMS to Canada costs us twice as much as shipping UPS Express, but it is something we are happy to do, just ask us at check out.  I have said it before, but I will say it again, Canadian Customs are more venal than they would be in a country run by Atilla the Hun and his latest wife Lucrezia Borgia

It's not our customs that gets me to have g&p&a ship to me parcel force . It's the brokerage fee that ups charges on top of the duty. Duty doesn't bug me its the brokerage fee that ruins it for me

How much is the brokerage fee?  We too get charged a brokerage fee in the UK if the thing is stopped and taxes applied, but it does not often happen.  Is the fee in Canada disproportionately high such that UPS is incentivised to charge duty.

usually its just a bit more then the duty
say the duty was $50, the brokerage fee would be like $59
and the last package you sent me ups i got hit with brokerage fees and no duty
which makes no sense what so ever

Exactly . A couple weeks ago g I ordered a bunch of motorcycle parts from a company they wanted 87 us to ship USPS to Canada 47 to ship ups or they shipped free ups to a us address . So I got a us box and drove the almost 3 hour round trip to avoid the brokerage fee. I paid 92 in duty on the package worth 610. But driving there myself was the cheapest option. Ups is kinda the devil when crossing into Canada. I don't care about duty. That's just part of the game but a brokerage fee is like paying shipping twice in my eyes

Yep, Nate is exactly right. I've never been able to determine what the brokerage fee is, since no one else charges it to the recipient (unless it's built into the upfront shipping cost). As far as I'm concerned, it's highway robbery.

In the UK we get hit with a brokerage fee of about USD by both UPS and EMS (I suspect TNT, Fedex and DHL will be similar), usually this ONLY happens if there is tax to pay, but occasionally they hit me with it, I guess just for looking at the parcel…..

What brand of THICK wool blend socks do you fellas recommend? The thicker the better I really like my boots to almost hurt they are so tight so extra sock thickness  akways fixes this.

Best wool socks on the planet are Smartwool IMO. They make some thick ones; the hiking ones rule.  They don't itch or stink and they are kitten soft and made to last. Padded bottoms too, like an insole.

Best IMO are Maggie's Organics Killington Mountain Hikers.  I've been wearing them everyday throughout the summer in New Mexico.  Yes, thick wool socks in the summer with insulated Keen waterproof boots, for 10+ hours a day.  In the winter they are even better.  These socks last.

I second that. They are really well designed ergonomically and they seem to hug my feet in just all the right places.

Smartwool socks are always on sale at the local outdoor stores in my area. I typically pay $15-17, when they are priced at $25-30. It's usually at the mom and pop stores, not big ones like REI.

to echo what Zwer and Nate are saying it completely true! I received a package that was mistakenly sent to my business address instead of my US address that they usually used. The brokerage fees were $67 and the item was worth $30. I called to enquire where the huge fee came from and was told by UPS that it is arbitrary, depending on who handles the package. That was all they could tell me! Brutal!  Other times it's been $20 on $500, no rhyme or reason!
