            @Giles:

Believe me, that is a PHD level question compared to some I get asked.    If the creases are well set, they will not move when you wash them.  For people who want well defined combs and whiskers, setting the creases is the primary reason they delay the first wash for as long as possible…

Thank you for the reply Giles!

What would be a recommendation to get some pretty high contrast fading going on in terms of washing?

Wear for as long as you (or your close associates) feel you can.  Soak in warm water, pop in the washing machine inside out and at about 30C, drip/air dry.  Voila….

And a dilemma: I have a "Blue Bag (of goodness)" arriving today, which is fantastic and just the sort of excellent retail therapy I need after a truly horrendous couple of weeks… But, everyone will be out earning a living (or a close approximation of same). Do I wait in (technically it's my day off though I've said I'll go in) and make sure? Or do I dash back in my lunch hour and hope that it arrives in the 40mins I'll be in?

At the moment I'm currently owed two days and 4 1/2 hrs overtime from work. If I go in today (5hrs and counting :() then I'll a) feel like, and probably be treated like shit b) possibly have to wait almost a week for my next consignment.

On the other hand, I did sort of promise the only member of staff (in a position of authority) that I have any respect for that I'd be in...

                Hmm...

Currently leaning towards: Phone up, explain I'm waiting on a parcel, go in after it arrives. With going in earlier/staying later (to extend lunch break) a distant second… The trouble is my Dept head gets into work only an hour before I'm due to start.

Why is it all if not most of these Japanese denim brands use English as their primary language on patches and slogans etc etc…...?

The Japanese obsession with Americana?  I dunno.  Personally, I'd like to see a bit more stuff with Japanese kanji instead.

I tend to agree with you on that one Chris.  I have a bunch of my own theories.  Another one being to appeal to the masses.  I find it funny that they use so much English when most of them can barely speak it and vice versa.

Most Japanese can speak English far better than us from the US/ UK can speak Japanese, they're all taught English to a basic level at school, but in my experience there is some shyness about using their English to someone who speaks it a their native language.

I think that certainly most denim companies are strongly influenced in their designs by the old school heavy hitter denim brands like Levi's, Wrangler and Lee, including the labelling. Most of this stems from the clothing and styles worn by the occupying GI's after WWII.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

Has anyone had trouble getting through the airport scanner while wearing Iron Heart denim?

I flew roundtrip from ABQ to Dallas wearing my SR's and was patted down at both airports.  The two individuals who performed the security check said that the reason was probably my jeans.  One was mumbling to himself, "These things are thick!  They probably couldn't see through all these creases."

i had it once…but i just heard the security said something like..."damn, are those still jeans or what!?" 😉
the only thing i had "problems" with is with wearing boots during the security check. i had to take´em (Red Wing GT & Yuketen Johnson) of after the scanner made some noice! 🙂

Here in the states we get to remove our shoes EVERY time we go through security. SO much fun.

AND they make you stand with your feet inside the yellow outlines on the mat, so disgusting.  Just think of how many sloppy people's fungusy feet have been in that exact same spot wearing sweaty socks…EWWWW.

I try to stand on the sides of my feet to make as little contact with the mat as possible.  Lovely world we live in.

You and me both! Oh and I always wears my non-hemmed jeans while traveling so that I can cover my feet with the denim while walking without shoes.

Just noticed that both the white chambray work shirts are listed as Endangered. Are they going to be replaced with westerns? Or will there be another version of the work shirts coming?

And will any replacement be Extant?

Might need a decent white shirt in the next few months…
