We have runners on the main stairs, the treads of which are knackered from 2 centuries of use and abuse, but this ancient pitch pine has so much character it would be a crime to hide it….

Took me and Les bloody ages to work out how to get it up there and make sure it stayed up.  It's fibrous plaster, so weighed a ton….

The copper gutters and downspouts look gorgeous! I learned a similar lesson recently installing a dryer vent, I have a nice scar on my wrist as a reminder how incredibly sharp thin metal can be.
