I'm not sure what the wood is, I forgot to ask Charlie, my woodman.  He's a fellow landrover owner, so he looks after me, I normally get pretty good wood, a larger than normal load at a smaller than normal price….

We have runners on the main stairs, the treads of which are knackered from 2 centuries of use and abuse, but this ancient pitch pine has so much character it would be a crime to hide it….

Took me and Les bloody ages to work out how to get it up there and make sure it stayed up.  It's fibrous plaster, so weighed a ton….

This is how far we have got so far (I forgot to order a couple of joiny things because I am a rank amateur).  They will arrive tomorrow, hopefully with a shoe for the downpipe….
