No. You can find better deals than that if you want used. That processor is quite old. Don't buy a used Macbook Pro unless it has at least an i7 processor. PM me anything else you find and I'll tell you if it's a good deal, etc.

I'm going the OptiBay route as soon as i've finished ripping all my DVDs/CDs. I'll be glad to see the back of 'em TBH and can then use the space for vinyl instead. This MBA is the first SSD based system i've owned and it's great, especially when combined with my new TB display.  I often use an iMac with a Fusion drive for audio work and it does seem fairly snappy, but not as much as the Air.

The dual HDD setup on a macbook Pro is amazing. I have the Data Doubler from OWC in mine. I used the DVD drive maybe once. Now, I have the extra internal HDD setup as a backup for Time machine.

I think the smartest place to buy Macs are through their refurb section. Or if you find exactly what you want, search for it on eBay. But eBay is filled with crap, so be careful.

Also, once you find something you like go to http://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-comparison-chart/?compare=all-macs and look up the mac's specs. Look at the GeekBench scores. The higher the better.

For example, the macbook pro you asked about scores like 3800 on geekbench. Even the newest cheapest macbook Air scores twice as high.

Got a new iPod Nano today cause my old iPod video finally bit the dust. It's so sick.

Also, anyone see the new Mac Pro? Holy shit!

New Mac Pro looks pretty amazing (spec-wise that is, physically it looks a bit like a waste paper basket) but will no doubt be super spendy. Thunderbolt 2 already….really?

Not a fan of the aesthetic. I also don't like how it's taking the soldered down approach into the professional desktop range. I think it's a miss but we will see.

Yeah, I've upgrade my MBP a few times, and likely will 1-2 more times before it heads out the to the /dev/rand in the sky.

That said the new Pro's are Flash and RAM upgradeable that's all you need for a desktop PC. The CPU's are fast enough for years on end and are usually bottlenecked by Disk/RAM. Thunderbolt any devices for space and Robert's your mother's brother.

I have an old Mac Pro that is still faster than most of the current Mac lineup, but it's time to upgrade. I'll be selling and getting the new Mac Pro. The best new feature for me is it's size and portability. I usually bring a MBP on photo shoots but now I can easily just bring the new MP instead. I'm now most interested In what this Haswell processor is gonna do for the next rMBP 13/15". The rMBP 13" currently is not much,if any, faster than the new MBA. Also, need to upgrade my iPad to whatever the next iteration is. Come on Apple release some new shit for me.

As of now, having a regular sized iPad and an iPhone 5, I have no desire to get an iPad mini. I'd much rather have a slightly larger iphone. My gf really wants the mini because she can fit it in most of her purses. The size just feels weird to me and since I mostly use it to watch videos while traveling, I prefer the larger size.

Why do you want it over the full size?

Good question; it's hard to explain why I like it better; I'm not sure I even understand why. I had an iPad 3 and I wound up selling it after it was just collecting dust once I got a mini. I felt the same way that you do but wound up getting one of these things on a whim and it's become my dominant device now aside from the phone of course.

in gmail you can export contacts: https://www.google.com/contacts/
the iphone might be able to import those.

you can also try directly syncing them, i have never tried it thought: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/2753077?hl=en

Alrighty fellas, I think I have my PC sold and am looking to move into the world of Mac. As everything I use is apple based  I want to make the transition complete. My ssd based PC was great and faster than anything I've ever experienced but unnecessary for what I use it for, and entirely to unreliable for composing important jobs on. Can anyone make suggestions? I'd like to purchase an actual home computer rather than a notebook (laptop) but push come to shove of the performance and price are right I could live with it. Thanks for any input

I think the new iMacs are probably a good fit, perhaps with a fusion drive. I always go laptop except for my mini HTPC. if you do that with display and Bluetooth peripherals I'd go Air.

I really love the Magic Trackpad, a Bluetooth glass multitouch trackpad. I don't do mice anymore, it's way better for me to use the MT. Once you get a few gestures down you can zip around beautifully.

Snowy and others will have some sound opinions on Mac as well.
