@deek mine came really tarnished as well. I was able to clean it up but it gets dark again really fast. Its strange because my curb chain, ball chain, and club ring are all stored the same way do not tarnish like this. I thought maybe it’s the surface area of the silver, body lotion, the interior of the storage bag is also pretty ripped up. So I’m not sure why it’s happening with this specific piece. I use a silver polishing cloth on it almost every time I wear it.

@jdwaid somtimes with chains they are rhodium plated to stop it tarnishing.

Ordered the little gents back in October through one of their retailers because it showed in stock and I had wanted one forever. Turns out it wasn’t in stock so they had to special order and it finally just came in, but the silver lining in making it worth the wait is that they discounted it SIGNIFICANTLY, like almost to a point I thought it was a scam… glad to finally have it on my BLB. Desert little gents on a desert B spring ring. Also have my Ship John key rive and little tweezers. The tweezers are super clutch to have

@deek I’ve had mine since the summer and it’s only getting a bit darker on the sides. Do you live near the ocean?
-
@deek That is absolutely crazy. I had a 925 silver bowl by my front door for storing my keys that took 10 years to get that black.
-
Do you like it dark like that, or would you prefer it shiny? Either way, that's wild that it went so quick! I like mine shiny, so I clean all my silver once a year or so.
-
@paris75009 I have pieces of GAH 10 years old that havent tarnished.
-
@deek where did you buy it from?
-
@gazza61 interesting. Are the model 10’s supposed to be treated as well?
-
-
@seawolf Perhaps inside the ocean then?

FWIW, I did watch an old video where Josh was explaining how they do a total blackening treatment first, then polish the pieces to bring back the shine on the high areas while leaving the low areas dark. Most of the time, that contrast is developed over years of wear and polishing. GA does it for you as sort of a faux patina so it looks cool out of the box.
If they are plating their pieces, you would only have a certain amount of polishing ability before it wears off and you have raw silver. I feel like the plating might also make the blackening difficult, but that's just a guess.

@seawolf a little fishy sent it to me

Just googled: "Body Chemistry (Sweat & Oils): Perspiration contains chlorides and sulfur-rich compounds that, combined with the skin’s acidity, accelerate tarnishing. Individuals with more acidic skin or high-sulfur diets (e.g., eating onions/garlic) may find their jewelry tarnishes faster."

I think I bought mine in July 2025 and you can see tarnishing on the sides towards the bottom. Bought polishing cloths but think it looks cool so haven’t don’t that yet. Interested to see how it changes. -
@hgering27 how does that even work? did the retailer just gave you a partial refund for waiting ??
