Ship John

@northsouthdenimguy nice

Snagged a medium …. Might grab a large too for an overshirt but not trying to hog

Another brand had a drop the other day and clothing lasted on the site a few hours before selling out. People were still on IG complaining about it selling out too quickly. Made me think about how pissed they would be for a Wills drop. I kind of like these random drops. Atleast I have more than 15 seconds and no anxiety leading up to it. Probably helps that I don’t really need anything.

@Bobcat-Sig its unfortunate for sure.. but sadly the reality of the brand.
They are a very small business, and way too hype.. and the combination of the two makes it very hard to obtain.
I mean at a drop of 30-50 shirts and 500-1000 people trying. There will be a lot of sad faces..
And as time goes their hype grows, but the supply doesn’t increase with that big of a margin. Mike even said he likes the small company vibe and never had an intention of growing into something harder to handle and maintain.
Heck we are all in the same boat, and respectfully I don’t say that to make your feelings any less meaningful. I truly feel for you and relate very much.
I tried on the Kristofferson on every chance I got
For three years with multiple fails. And on the fourth year, fourth release I succeeded:)
I failed on Ramblin jackets, shirts and other stuff. But the stuff I own is my most worn clothes. For me it’s worth it, the stuff they make is incredible. But I can truly relate to the feelings of hopelessness.
Much love for everyone on both sides of the company. It’s always frustrating wanting something and it being almost “impossible” to obtain. But congrats to all who bought the new dry waxed shirt! Looking forward seeing everyone’s fit pics🥰

When they announced the denim wills preorder I was ready and refreshing the product page with my face glued on my iPhone (with good internet). Payment info saved on shop pay. I think that's the best chance one can get.
I think though with the sashiko ori townes, ramblin and the denim wills next jan I am all ship johned up. They are awesome, different to IH and bring variety to my wardrobe along with the odd freenote cloth.
Altho the talk about a black denim townes is intriguing.
-
Japan only black denim townes. I do like how the brass snaps pop on black denim.

-
@Bobcat-Sig yeah, i'm not trying to be a downer on Mike or ship John as I absolutely love the items I have managed to pick up and I totally understand things are limited. But I just prefer when they announce the date/time something is dropping (just like IH do) so it at least gives everyone a chance to try and snag something......the random drops make it nearly impossible (especially in a different time zone) but as I say, it is what it is and its not a major issue in the big scheme of things - I will continue to try and support them as the ship John items are some of my favourite pieces I own

Anyone who got the dry wax Townes already thinking about possibly trying to shrink it? Mainly due to shoulders I was between sizes and opted for the usual size I get in all my other Townes shirts, but generally I hot soak/wash and usually machine dry to get the most shrinkage out I can, but due to this one being dry waxed I’m a little worried about how it will turn out. The care instructions say it can be washed and gives expectations on what happens if dried. Just trying to have a game plan for when it arrives
-
I machine wash and dry my Gutheries so I assume I will be able to do the same with this shirt.
-
@northsouthdenimguy awesome. I’ve just never machine washed or dried anything waxed so wanted to see what others game plan was
-
@Darth-fader Yes, very much agreed. I’m no fan of big social media, and made the choice to unplug from all of that, so I miss out on drops and such.
I suspect Mike drops product like that because it’s easier to announce on IG, and queue up his e-commerce system to drop at the same time, saving him the need to pull together an email, send it, etc.
Where I get hung up isn’t missing drops altogether, after all my only interaction with the brand is via email or in-shpp, it’s when your order is cancelled on check-out. I keep mentioning this but it burned me too much to forgive and forget, despite it seemingly such a small thing. I’ve often thought of selling all of my pieces out of spite. No other brand, of any kind, has me feeling that strongly.

@hgering27 I’m in the same boat as you! I want the chest to be a little smaller and was thinking of doing the same wash hot and dry. Kinda afraid that will ruin the wax but worse come to worse I’ll use it as a top layer piece. Either way I’m excited for this townes
