@neph93 if I was spending twice as much, I'd be tempted by a Tudor Black Bay 41 or Ranger instead.

My new dive watch arrived. It’s a German-made Damasko Dsub1.

I love the fact that the date window is offset at 4 o’clock while keeping the numbers horizontal (and I hate that they’re so small I can’t really read them…)

i'm really falling more in love with this pinion the more i see it. should i make this my goal for this year instead?! it reminds me so much of my Pam, especially the 3,6,9 font..

just realised after checking today that it's extinct. totally forgot about that… i'll have to keep on lusting... 😞

It turns out I was mistaken, any way. New version is a looker too, though.

According to Hodinkee, the mechanical model uses an ETA calibre, whereas the cheaper quartz uses a Ronda movement.

They're available with a black or white face, and there's a huge selection of straps to choose from.

I’ve been wanting that watch! The white face appeals to me a bit more. But I didn’t know Macron wore one…that’s interesting

I like the look of the LMM-01. For $250 for the quartz you can’t go wrong.
I’m wearing the Seiko Presage “Starlight” tonight.

Can anyone recommend a good quality leather watch strap maker in the UK? I’ve found the Toshi website and the offerings there look pretty good? Does anyone have experience of these?

Equus Leather do some very nice watch straps. Unfortunately they cost £150 and up, so probably not in the scope of this thread.

Tender offer some good straps through the Trestle Shop in Bakers bridle leather. They're £45, but only come in an 18 mm width. (Someone should suggest to Will that a 20 mm model would be a good idea. The hardware could fit that size.)

Equus have a 15% off promotion that's running until 28th January, use code EQUUS15.

@neph93 the Visodate looks nice. I'd be tempted to push the budget up (err, nearly double it), and get the Tissot Ballade Powermatic, which has their sweet, chronometer grade movement.

Hodinkee have a write-up of the Visodate, which seems positive. I found it whilst trying to find their article on the Powermatic watches.

They also have an introductory piece on the Ballade, which goes into why I like it, along with a hands on.

Whilst searching, I also found their hands on with the Tissot Heritage 1936. It's a nice looking watch, but now discontinued. (Jomashop still have them, and there's the similar T-Complications Squelette, though it's a more contemporary design.)
