So I have the back-breaking job of digging out an 800mm border in my garden.

During my hard labour today I came across this ‘object’…..

What do you see?

Pretty good condition to be very old and too thick to be any type of knife. Thinking it may have been part of an old iron fence?

@goosehd Whilst I’d love to imagine it is a weapon of some description, some kind of railing is a more logical assumption. The site has an old Victorian convalescent on it in the Gothic style (now converted into apartments) so no doubt something to do with that.
It really captured my boy’s imagination - he went on to dig for more random finds.
But back to the back-breaking border for me tomorrow….

Got some more work done this weekend - everything is now in final pots or beds except for bee balm, rosemary, echinacea, and lavender I have and plan to plant as foundation plants along a side not seen here

Too hot to manually dig and level the path so I’ll be renting some equipment or doing it slowly over the next few months

Phase 2 is to replace all the wood chips that were washed away

Chips come free through a program that pairs tree removal companies with homeowners who want the chips

Only catch is you get an hour notice before a truck dumps them in your driveway
