Does the double weft mean these will be soft like the 21oz? Also, is that the patch that is going on the jeans?

It'll be the same patch as the OG 14oz.

In theory, yes should be softer with wear (but we have no empirical evidence yet)….

Having both the OG 14oz and the new 142 denim, I can say with certainty that the 142 is softer

I have the same patch on my 555N and they've been worn hard (over 150 days) and washed multiple times (5?) and worn with a belt over them. The writing is clear and intact.

No news.  Please bear in mind that the part of Japan where we make the majority of stuff has had appalling floods over the last couple of weeks, lots of people killed, many workshops affected.  We are having a tough time getting updates out of the factories and workshops we use.  We ask once, if we get no reply we don't hassle, they probably have more important things to worry about…..
