Looks like my boy dog tore his ACL. Poor guy, he's limping really bad. Looks like surgery for him.

          Thanks Eli

He's hanging in there, right after he tore it he tried to chase his sister on three legs.

          That's a tough dog!

Anyone feed their Dog raw food? Doug is having problems with allergies and i have been reading how this kinda diet can help?
The idea that he should be eating raw meat and bones like he would if he was wild appeals to me as i follow a paleo diet.
If anyone has any experience would love to hear about it.

@spitfiredealer my wife and I own two French Bulldogs and we feed both of them a combination of kibble and raw nuggets from a brand called Primal.  Their kibble is also the no soy, no, wheat, no gluten variety that you will see at most high brow pet and grocery stores.  It definitely costs more but its worth it to have a healthier pet(s) that has more regular bowel movements.

It does feel weird knowing our dogs eat healthier than we do…..

I'm a raw feeder now, decided to go for it with my two new pups and I must say, so far, they seem to be the healthiest looking dogs I've ever raised, one being seven months the other twelve months. Both have good teeth, seem strong boned, aren't overly hyperactive, something that I think can be caused by kibble and they both have beautiful glossy coats which are always receiving/ compliments.
I stick mainly with premade minces containing 80/10/10 ratio meat, offal, bone with some added fish oil. I also feed raw fish once a week and will add some veg supplement on various days. Oh, and sometimes I just feed a whole chicken or sheep head as something different.
Sorry if all that sounds gross, but the dogs love it, I did lose my stomach a while back though, raw tripe in the morning is not for the faint hearted. 🙂

I've heard nothing but good things about a raw diet. Both my dog walker and my vet use a raw diet for their dogs.

I've heard from both to stick with premixed foods though. Most of what a dog would eat in the wild is actually the viscera, not the skeletal muscle. Feeding a dog too much skeletal muscle messes with their calcium levels.

Thanks guys. We got Dougs blood tests back he is allergic to gluten. So we are getting rid of kibble. My only concern is I have a small child and him and the dog are always playing with each other so I am worried about him getting hold of the raw food. So for this week I have cooked the dog a load of mince, veg and offal.

I think some of the raw foods are raw pasteurized. If that's the case, it shouldn't make him any sicker than if the kid ate regular dog food.

sorry to read this.  is it a full or partial tear?

Looks like Hex completely tore his CCL, so he's going to get his shin bone resectioned and screwed together with a plate.

Also he probably has a meniscal tear

And he probably needs to have the groove for his patella deepened because it's out of whack.

The worry has been he's overloading the other back leg, which can cause his other knee to blow out too.

It's been a rough couple of weeks. Thanks everyone who's been concerned.
