Gents, I hope this is the right spot to ask this question - apologies if it isn't, I did spend most of this morning perusing the forum and couldn't find a better spot than this one.

I received a pair of 643s in 21oz (size 31, with the wonderful IH staff having informed me by e-mail in advance that they had a 30.5 waist measurement - Jesus, talk about customer service!) earlier this week and I'm blown away by the quality. I've worn my fair share of raws over the last 20 years, but never experienced anything like the IH fabric.

I'm 100% committed to grabbing a pair of 888s in 21oz when they're restocked (I saw the comment above indicating a provisional July/August timeframe). The only thing I need to figure out now is whether to go for a size 30 or size 31.

The 643s with a 30.5 waist fit me like they were made-to-measure for me. Scrap that: I actually do have several MTM jeans, and none of them fit me as well on the waist as these).

I've also read several comments on this forum of people suggesting to go down one size in the 888s when compared to the 634. Others suggest taking the same size.

Right now I'm leaning towards buying a size 30 and leaving a comment on the order asking to find a pair with a close-to-30.5-waist. Any thoughts or feedback from you more experienced gents? Is there a "golden standard" on ordering a bigger size and asking for a smaller waist from stock, versus ordering a smaller size and asking for a bigger waist from stock?

Thanks everyone, highly appreciate any and all input.

@M.EDS You'll need to wait for the sizing chart to be posted, it changes from different releases/restocks... I'm sure you could get a 30.5 like you said if you put a note with your order 🙂

@M.EDS After about 6 pairs of 888s i can honestly say i regret a little bit sizing down with my early pairs. It's annoying having to stretch them back out after i wash them.

My thighs fill out the 888 pretty well, but the waist is definitely the tightest part of this cut imo. the 1" of stretch they post in the product description is where you should be. I dont try to go for more than that anymore.

My trick for 888 sizing is to measure my own waist around the outside of my underwear's elastic, then get the waist size 0.5" smaller than that. YMMV.

@M.EDS Definitely go by the measurements and not the tag size. Also be aware that the 888 has a pretty roomy mid/high rise. It's not a slim fit high rise. It all depends on how you're built. Talking to @WhiskeySandwich before, I'm similar in that my mid-thigh to knee is always the bottleneck with the 888s, not the upper thighs. It's still great, but I go for the smallest waist I can manage to keep the top block from looking bad. As I stated in my other post. The 21oz definitely has give and I've stretched them out in all areas including the entire thigh/knee. I'm a camera operator though and get into all kinds of crazy positions with these jeans. I would say if they are pretty snug but not uncomfortably tight and irritating you're right where you need to be. I second @WhiskeySandwich on the waist sizing.

@M.EDS Your type of physique has alot to do with being able to size down from 643 or not. I think for most people same tag size works out pretty good. Now if your waist is alot narrower than your hips and you are ok with leg room being tighter specially closer to the knee you may be able to size down. I personally cannot unless its a run with different measurements than usual. As every said measurements is king. The safe bet will be same tag size.

Kind of related to the chat above about sizing, @Jord and @Denimhead-0 you both have 643s and 888s, are your go to waist specs the same? Or for the 643 with a lower rise and sitting on the hips do you go for slightly bigger? ....i am starting to get the 643 itch....but damn i dont need another pair of jeans or pants 😅😂

@WhiskeySandwich interesting comments. Im still in the camp of like getting things tight but then stretching out and moulding to you (as long as i know the denim can stretch). With the 888s i have gone one size up before and its comfy, but was just cautious not to have that diaper pants look too...

@cyclops It really depends on the cut/denim etc, I have a W32 in the 634 and W33 in the 888 in both UHR, I also own a pair of XHS 634 which are a 34 waist...

Always go with the size charts! But I'd say I go slightly bigger on 634, the W32 I have in the UHR is due to the size chart being slightly larger, but we all got different body types etc, I will say the 634 are awesome though

@Jord yeah fair enough. But like for me, i typically look for 32.5 inches as my go to. But like for the 666xhs, i found i needed 33inches and more

So just wondered between them you stuck to a similar figure. But it sounds like for the 634 you go a little bit bigger. Which i will have a think....thanks!

Any idea if this is still on target for August release like the product page ETA says? If so, any idea if it will be on the earlier or later side? I’d like to batch this with a couple other items, but I want to make sure I get the other items by end of August.

@goosehd thanks for the info! Yeah I had considered the stacking and free shipping. I guess I just feel bad about the environmental impact of shipping them separately across the Atlantic and was wondering if there would be an easy way to batch them even if each item separately qualifies for free shipping, but also have assurance I could get the other item in time if these aren’t released by then 😃

I think I must be misunderstanding this. Are you saying I can order an upcoming release in advance when making a current order to guarantee I don’t miss out on a drop? That sounds too good to be true, and dangerous for my pocket book.

Here is the IHUK policy on stacking taken from the sales platform:

What is your "Stacking" shipping option?
We have a system we call “stacking” whereby you can avoid paying shipping on orders under US$200 (or GBP/EUR equivalent) by having them “stacked” (for a maximum of 90 days) which means we keep the items until such time as your cumulative orders reach US$200 or more.
This is useful if you want to buy an item costing less than US$200 – for example a t-shirt – that may sell out quickly, and are happy to wait for it rather than pay shipping. If you use our “stacking" option, we will automatically ship once combined orders reach a value of US$200 (or GBP/EUR equivalent) or more. You can of course contact us to request items to be held for longer. PLEASE NOTE - if you use “stacking” this may affect your options if you decide to return an item after stacking for more than 30 days: depending on the amount of time elapsed we may only be able to offer store credit instead (no refund), or we may deem the item(s) no longer returnable.
