I was actually trying to decide between this one and the IHB-07 and I like this one better than the IHB-07. But there is one question that I would like to clarify. I will be using this one on my IH-721 Khaki Chinos which I have in tag size 32. I just measured the distance between the front 2 belt loops and they are just 8 cm apart. Now going by the dimensions of this belt, the square brass buckle is about 5.7 cm.

Can anyone please tell me what is the distance in cm for the dotted line that I have marked in the image below?

I just want to know if the brass hardware will sit comfortably in front of the pant loop or will it have to fight against the pant loop for space? Do you know what I mean? Can someone help me out?

EDIT: I got the reply from IH service and the measurement between the first blue dot and the 3rd blue dot is roughly 10 cm. Might be useful for anyone else!

I have done that, but I thought my particular question above would be interesting to anyone else as well which is why I posted it here in the first place!

Got this delivered today. As I knew it before and from the recommendation I went with size L and now I'm looking for some ways to make it fit to my size! I have 2 options:

                  1. The straightforward way of trimming it as mentioned in the forum here. With this approach I guess I need to get my measurements damn right otherwise I will end up messing the belt

                  2. With this option, I'm thinking of punching a hole (probably the 6th one) in the buckle area. What is the punch type used here? It looks like a "Spade shape".

I'm thinking of doing the option 2, but for that I would need to know the punch type used. Could you please let . me know what punch you used so that I can try to find the same one to be consistent in the holes?

Personally I think option 2 is a bad call.  you'll end up with a very long "tail", but if you decide to go that route, then you need something like this:

                    https://www.8seasons.com/steel-leather-punch-hole-tools-teardrop-antique-pewter-99cm3-78-x-08cm-38-1-piece-p-91776.html

Option 1, is super-easy. you just determine house much too long the belt is to get it into your preferred hole (the middle one being optimal IMO), and reduce the length of the belt by that much.

I second what Giles says. I have tried both methods and option 1 gives by far the most satisfactory result, and is really not difficult at all.

Okay! I see your point! I will try to see if I can go with the official IH way of shortening it! Will have to do some proper measurements to get the perfect size!

On the other hand it was also good to know that the hole punch shape is a Teardrop! If I could not get option 1, I will go for the option 2 and get myself a Teardrop punch!

                        Thanks @Giles and thanks @neph93

Just did some measurements and I either need a new hole (from the base of the buckle) which is 3cm away from the default 1st hole of the belt or I need to cut away 3 cm from the belt so that the current 1st hole is exactly where I want. I will better take it to a leather shop nearby once it opens!

If you do not have a whole punch and stanley knife available then a big nail fornye Chicago screwed and a well sharpened kitchen knife will do. Again, I have done method with all the right gear and the second time I did it with what I had at hand. It worked great both times.

You are talking about the official way of aligning the size of the belt which is to follow the video, but for me I would start with the option 2 that I have in my mind and for this a Chicago screw won't help as I need a teardrop kind of a punch! I think the best bet for me would be to take it to a leather service nearby!

I was indeed talking about the method referred to on the website. The belts are constructed this way so that they can be easily adapted by shortening the length. Chicago screws are the small brass screwed that you can see holding the pieces of leather by the buckle together.

It is your belt, so you decide of course.

I totally value all your suggestions! Just a bit scared to cut the length of the belt by myself and to get the screw positions in place which is why the option 2 is easy for me. All I need is a Teardrop punch and I know where exactly it is going to come! But since I do not have one, I need to find a way to do it if I do it by myself!

It is how you show in the video and I don't want to do that where in the video you cut off just after both the holes and use that as a template to punch 2 new holes. I can do that! It is indeed easy, but I do not want that. I just want to cut 3 cm off the belt and to me this is not as straight forward as you show in the video. That would mean I need to cut just 3 cm off from the belt which would leave me with one hole and I need to align the second one accordingly. It is a bit of work that I want to avoid ding by myself! Like I said the alternative would be to do it like I'm going to do in the image below! This is enough for me for now! Even though the hole is circular, I'm going to live with it!

Mission accomplished! Without any proper tools, with just a drilling machine, I managed to size the belt down! I had to cut about 3 cm off the belt to match the size that I want! This would just cut the first hole near the buckle and I had to carefully match the distance between the two holes and place the new one accordingly! The belt now sits comfortably on my waist! Perfecto!
