      Hello,

I have been Googling them for a while now and they seem like an interesting brand, especially the way they use the newsletter.

I would love to get an opinion on their product, especially from those in the UK.

      Thanks,
      Sreeni

I have no experience with this brand at all and I really haven't read much about them at all.  I shall do some googling.

Rivet & Hide sell them, seems like they stick a few models and currently have a 15% off sale.

@Sreeni my personal opinion after just browsing them for a bit is they seem a bit overpriced for what they are.  I first went to their home page and was a bit irked to see that their fit guide only has four measurements on it (waist, front rise, rear rise, inseam) and they managed to leave out the single most important measurement for me when buying a pair of jeans…the thigh measurement.  Why a company that is going to be in this price range would choose to leave out the thigh measurement is beyond me and huge knock on their attention to detail.  However, I found them on Rivett and Hide and for me their regular fit measurements are damn near perfect and I would almost pick up a pair based on that alone.

It looks like they currently only have two denims available.  One of which is a non-selvedge organic which may or may not be a big deal to you and the other fabric looks identical to a fabric commonly used by Gustin called the Okayama Standard.  I've owned several pairs of that fabric and well....it's just ok.  Gustin claims it to be their highest selling fabric, which I do believe to be true but in my opinion it's overhyped and the fades really aren't that great.  Not sure if I'm a huge fan of the green cast either.  I felt it made it difficult to pair with tops but that could just be me and my nitpicking nature.  Gustin also sells this fabric for much cheaper but I would wager that Hiut's quality of craftsmanship will be much higher than Gustin's.  I could be wrong that it is the same fabric but it is the same weight, comes from the same mill, has the same green cast, and the selvedge ID appears to be the same color.  I also believe that several other companies have used this fabric as well.

Take all of this info as you will.  In regard to their selvedge fabric it seems to be way overpriced for what it is and when you are getting into that price range I would hands down go with an IH fabric or any other Japanese brand for that matter.  However, with the marked down price plus 15% off sale and the fit of their regular cut being so damn good for me, it would be almost worth it to pick up a pair of that organic fabric to see what it's all about.

My first two pairs of selvedge denim were Hiut's back in 2013. 14oz, rope dyed, organic indigo if I remember correctly. I had their slim straight fit, and their regular straight. Although I only wore the slim straight. In fact the regular straight are still in my closet, practically unworn.

I quite like their story. I'm originally from Wales and know the area so that part resonates with me. Their marketing is very pointed. The owner of the brand used to be an ad man.

As for the product, their cuts are decent and they have a few cool features like the lined waist band.    That was actually really nice. Their free repairs is a good idea because their construction didn't  seem great. My crotch seam disintergrated after a few months. That may have improved now, or been a one off. I never took it up with them as by the time it happened I'd sort of moved on.

They do a lot of short runs that tend to sell out very quickly so they seem to have a solid customer base.

Personally, this is how I see it: Red Wing make a perfectly fine boot. But once you've owned a pair of Wesco's, Red Wing don't really cut it any more.

I love the story of the brand, no experience with it. One of the 'tech bros' I know fell in love with them years back and swears by them. I think it helps him spread the gospel of the tech bro further. Never heard him talk about the product, just the story. I like the detailed finishing myself too..Good luck to them!

@manufc10 @Maynard Friedman - Well, they happen to be among the few guys who don't provide thigh measurements.

I am not sure of their craftsmanship though and there is nothing on their website about it either. But since RnH has it, I am assuming that the jeans are reasonably good.

I am not surprised at all that an ad man is behind the brand. If it wasn't for their marketing, I wouldn't even consider buying from this brand. I have two legs, some money, and around 5-6 brands (with IH right at the top) that make great jeans.

I am still waiting to be convinced.

Exactly! The story is why I am asking about them. But that isn't enough though.

I've two pairs of Hiut jeans, both from their occasional limited runs. They're a different beast from Iron Heart, as you'd expect, but they're great when you're in the mood for something "light". They're beautifully made and I like their company ethos.

@Sreeni Apologies I only just saw this thread.

We stocked Hiut from the beginning. We both launched at the same time. They were very slow to sell initially as the brand was not known. One of my first deliveries included Hiut selvedge jeans and I took a pair to get to know the brand. 5 years later I'm still wearing them.
The jeans are very well made and we probably get more Hiut customers returning for a 2nd or 3rd pair than we see with any other brand. In part, this is because of the genuinely good story they tell about bringing quality jeans production back to their small corner of Wales but also due to the quality.

The Skinr fit is very popular as all Hiut jeans are on the higher side of medium in terms of rises and this fit is super slim.
The Slim fit is a "relaxed slim" fit and the Regular fit is popular for those who want a no nonsense straight fit with good rises.

                            Hello Danny!

For some reason, I missed this response. Thanks a ton.

I love reading their newsletters and their story is also a great one. Having seen a few of their releases, I think they are making jeans with many interesting fabrics. That you are wearing their jeans 5 years later is high praise indeed!

                            Thanks again!
