I recently inquired about having some links removed and was quoted $350.
-
In the new world order, that’s likely the cost to shorten a ball chain…

@Danimal506 I had some links removed on my curb chain bracelet size C. Brought it to a local silversmith and they dialed it in for $120 CAD. I just did some digging for local custom silversmiths as opposed to going the store front jeweler route.

@derek111 That’s smart. Going straight to someone who works primarily with silver. I’m sure there is no shortage of them here in Austin, TX. Thank you for the tip

-
@pechelman wouldn’t they send back the extra removed link(s)?

Supposedly if you send back cut off ball chain links they'll send you back a few stickers for the silver? At least I swore i read or heard that somewhere.
They sent me a solid pack of stickers when I did this….
-
@pechelman guess I assumed they would send back what already belongs to you.
-
The question is: do you get more stickers depending on how many sections you send back, and would you get more now that the price of silver has gone up?
-
@Mizmazzle Grail sticker…

-
As a dude with tiny wrists, I’m envious of the chunky dudes who get all those extra links for free. Maybe I need to leave a note asking for my spare links on the side….
I’ve wondered why they don’t price their bracelets according to size like they do with their necklaces. I imagine it could possibly lead to more sizing errors, though - people trying to save a buck or two?

Pffft
For $900 I’ll sell my stickered Vitra tool box full of broken pencils and dead ballpoint pens.
