        @Bluegrass:

        I'm curious too - that one caught my eye as well.

        I also like this one on the Wesco-Japan website - says it's a 10" Packer with "bubble toe".  I assume bubble toe is the old 9109 Boss last, but not sure:

        They say this one is a packer with a boss toe:

        http://www.wescojapan.com/gallery/lace_up/index.html#

        Top one.  Packer with standard #9109 last and toe cap

        Bottom.  Jobmaster #9165 last.  It's an old boot as Wesco have not used that logo or that leather for an age

                    I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of "packers" from the Wesco factory seconds. This is my first pair of Wesco's and I'm really impressed with them. I was a bit skeptical at first with this style of boot, but since they have arrived and I've been wearing them, they are really growing on me. 😃

                          Nice boots, hereforthebeer. I know what you mean about being a little sceptical. Was it the heel height that had you in two minds? I was a tad concerned about that with mine. But the way the heel is shaped and flows with the shape of the boot, makes all the difference imo.

                          Yeah the fit is good davito. I was obviously a little nervous before hand but they are spot on. I must be lucky. Because I know what difficulty many people have in getting the correct fit in pull on boots.

                          Can I just take a moment to thank Chris @ Wesco for all his assistance and patience. His knowledge of the product and willingness to help was greatly appreciated. I've never come across any other company that offers such a great level customer service.

                            Me too (same pair coming, or very similar)!  First time I have ever seen anything in my size that I wanted on the seconds page.  Actually these are 13D and I wear 12.5, but I am hoping it will work.

                              Funny you mention the heel; I plan to add a lift eventually when I send in mine for repair… 😉

                              I think the Packer is a gorgeous boot and I'll be swapping in leather laces as well. Might go no false tongue but we'll see!

                                Careful.  When Wesco build a boot with a lower or higher heel, they use a different last which distributes the wearers weight in the correct manner.  Changing the heel height means you have the incorrect heel height for the last and they are likely to be less comfortable….

                                  From what I can see in the pics, there is still plenty of heel - I think Packers are designed with a pretty high heel in the base case.  I'm more worried about the "small cut on the toe" - it is barely visible in the pic - but I guess you are always taking a bit of a chance with factory seconds.

                                    Giles thank you for the heads up! Glad to hear they take balance into consideration in which case I won't be modifying these at all.

                                    Bluegrass, hopefully it's nothing serious however I'd say Wesco "seconds" would be considered "passable" by most other standards. For example, mine have "irregular outsole stitching" but nothing out of the norm from say White's in this particular case. I'll post pictures once they arrive buy would easily vouch for any pair on their seconds page!

                                        @AndyO yeh it was the heel height I was originally worried about. But after seeing them in person and how they look on, I think it suits the boot perfectly. I don't think I'd be up for anything higher though.

                                        @Bluegrass And @aho Mine had the "irregular outsole stitching" described as well, and honestly, you can barely notice it. Says a fair amount for the quality control of Wesco for these to make the factory seconds.
