UHR Denim

We broke the loom that makes this denim.

Haraki gave me answer to "is it fixable?" this morning…..

_It's not fixable. I mean it cannot be fixed.

We found a new mill in Shikoku (island across sea from Kojima) , they may can weave. so they will try.
If it goes well, I will order bulk production.
They will give us an answer if they can make or not in early December.
If they cannot make it, 21/23oz won't be made in the future._

Seriously though, while this must be a pain in the ring it's quite exciting as well… Potential for new version of UHR, different qualities etc. Or is it vital that the new mill recreate the old UHR precisely?

Well, the warp and the weft will be the same as we'll supply the same yarns.  So the basic ingredients are the same.  But yes, it'll be a miracle if the end result is identical….

What I thought. I guess that means there is a good chance that all UHR jeans are about to become effectively "Endangered", unless there rolls of the old stuff sitting around in Japan.

^Agreed.  I do not anticipate needing new jeans for quite some time.  But the potential for a denim I would very much like to have to become extinct or never be the same means I may have to add to the collection much sooner than planned.
