Apparently i just bought a pair of whites SD's on Ebay for $85. The guy had them listed without knowing what they were. I waited for the auction to end and pounced by saying repost them and i'll bid $85 then end the auction..He agreed. Little horsehide update (since Jan):

I've been pretty happy with them.. the leather is excellent and just a little bit more than cow. Part of the color change might be due to the fact that I coated them in some whites wax after almost right away.

His are horsehide, which costs a bit more than cowhide. Still a bit early for you, huh Giles?

The CXL from whites is only about 30 bucks cheaper than the horsehide at bakers. The extra money for HH seems to be well spent. I'm no expert, but it seems a little thicker and I think it ages better. The CXL from them seems to have a bad rep, so what I just wrote might not mean much if that's true.
