How will the cobbler attach the Commando sole? Glue on or sew again?
I'm asking because I had recently been with my 1000 Miles to a cobbler for a similar treatment and he said it would be best to sew them on. I'm not sure that is necessary.
Is the commando sole covering the whole width of the sole or just the middle part of it?

The sole will be attached with glue, and will cover the front portion of the boot, full width.

Got my SD's back from the local cobbler today, the job isn't top grade, but it cost me £20 and will get me through the winter before sending them back to Spokane for a proper refurb.

Dont think colouring the side of the black vibram is a good idea - leave it black imo

A) The vibram sole is slightly narrower than the old sole, what your seeing is the gap  :-\

I totally agree, didn't ask for it but it's there now so…...

The soles make my SD's wearable through winter, and the job isn't top notch, but it will be fine until I can get them done properly in the new year.

Thank god for that, these will be my winter boots of choice now for a (mostly) daily wear, and the brown does look absolutely shit.

not quite a fan of the resole job but as long as it does the job…you're good to go

The glue is strong, the pics are a bit misleading. I wasn't 100% happy with what was done, but it works and it was cheap, they'll go to Spokane for the star treatment in the spring, completely new resole, double leather rather than single.

Don't you guys slip/fall a lot on cobbles/stony ground when it's wet and you wear leather soles? I had to get my leather 1000 miles rubbered.

Yeah - this is why I went for a boot with a feckin commando sole this time… No more slapstick on ice provided by me this winter...
