That is complete shit.
I'm really sorry to hear your wife got jerked around like that. I hope she shames then into giving her what she earned.
Regardless, she sounds like she's a skilled and competent worker, and there are always other jobs for people like that, which is perhaps what she should start thinking about.
-
Sorry to hear @Appfaff. That's absolutely infuriating that they would do that to your wife. Hope this gets resolved

Boss is acting like it’s a mess up… we will see.
People are quick to push blame when they mess up tho..
Thanks for the support crew

Workplace bollocks, I know it very well.
Have worked for a very illegal window fitting company who completely ignore all UK laws and get clean away with it.
They paid me cash without even discussing it with me, gave me zero safety equipment even though I has handling glass and chemicals all day, made my buy my own tools and I could go on and on.
And they had massive council contracts, I was changing windows on council owned estates in Tenby for pembrokeshire council.
I was not self employed and they gave me no contract, telling me I was on trial.
They ditched me after 7 weeks without any notice at all.
Kevin Thomas you are a c@@t

Adam, that is just the worst. I'm sorry to hear that they're trying to play your wife like that. Hopefully she will have the strength of her convictions to continue to speak up until they make it right. Unfortunately, I think a lot of the "professional" men in this world assume that women aren't going to stick up for ourselves, and will just go along with whatever is doled out. Does she have any email evidence of their promises?
-
Thanks Ann,
Yes she has documentation, signed contracts, etc.
They keep saying “it’s in the works” and when can’t figure it out keep saying “it will happen next month” - and then say no back pay is given on agreed upon pay periods.
It just makes me hate corporate America more and more.

.
So, if anyone works in medical billing and needs a supervisor, hit me up.
The best thing y'all can do is for her to simply leave. It's hard not to react and seek vengeance, but that will not be a good move long-term.
Maybe I can help: I work in healthcare on the vendor side for a large company that plays in revenue cycle and related areas. Hit me up, we may have opportunities she would like and the company treats employees well regardless of gender (my boss and her bosses boss are female, and our team composition is at least half women). She would be able to work remotely.

I’ll hit you up McLain

I’m sorry to you and your wife Adam. That stinks. She deserves better

@Appfaff It’s ridiculous that companies take one of two forms:
1. Extremely small ones that take care of their people (even at the expense of the owners)
2. Medium to large ones that will go as far as the law allows to screw their own peopleNot entirely sure how we got here. Perhaps it’s that the good-conscience having small business owners just aren’t ruthless enough to grow? I know that you know all about being #1. And what’s funny is that often clients and employees act like #1 companies are #2 companies anyway.
-
Amen to that - got a few of the #1s under my name haha [emoji23]

Adam, I would say the only sensible strategic move is for her to hand in her resignation. One of two things will happen. Either your wife gets a new job and moves on from what sounds like a shithouse of a “boss”, or they sort things out in a minute when they realise she isn’t someone you can fuck with.

Agreed. Even if they did sort things out and properly compensate her it would be a case of too little, too late.
-
Totally with you @gaseousclay too little, to late but a classic move, lets first try if she is okay with it, happens to me pretty often in B2B Situations, I don´t understand these People at all, Fairness don´t seems to be a thing with some.

@tvenuto we got here because companies make it their business to understand and bend/break the law. In my work I make it my business to know and understand all of the legislation I work with better than those that basically pretend to know it. Unionise companies and organisations. Form workforce support networks…I started a mental health support network at my work. 2 years on we have been involved in the review and rewriting of policies that have hugely benefited all employees.
Employees have a duty of care to their employees (in the UK and EU at least, can't comment on the USA). Organisations can't function without custom or staff, and they should look after both.
@Appfaff I hope your wife gets her due. I hope it's a case of managers and accounts not knowing their arse from their elbow rather than being deliberate.
