Friends of me are 'vegans'.. They don't wear any leather clothes, shoes etc..
True vegans don't do that..

Many vegans like to recycle; thus using leather (excluding some exotics) could be viewed as merely recycling the leftovers of animal production for foodstuffs. Plus, if the hides are valuable then less harm will occur to those hides in life. This is something people who work in the industry will tell you. Though there are still ways to beat and bruise animals into submission without damaging the hides; it is somewhat of an art form actually. Also, not all vegans care about animals. Some are merely interested in optimal health; athletes, sports heroes, former presidents, academics, nutritionists, the list goes on… Veganism is essentially an umbrella which takes in a wide spectrum of priorities.

I guess you're right… But grilled seitan and bacon tempeh are solid alternatives if one doesn't wanna eat a fellow animal kept in horrible conditions and slaughtered just for tasting good...

I eat meat. I strive to buy meat from an animal that has had a decent life….I don't want to eat an animal that has had an awful life, but that does not mean I have to give up my omnivorous tendencies....
