@Brian optus and telstra are both as bad as each other. ever since I moved away and wanted to retain my number, that the smaller "telcos" (I'm using aldimobile) start to sound more attractive. and also made me realise there's no point being loyal to any of the big 2/3
-
@Giles that sucks. direct or not going at all now? I hope this clears before sept

-
@louisbosco Vodafone for me and they have been useless I call them and can’t even hear what they are saying as they keep cutting out and it’s not my signal causing it I can assure you
Ended up going with iinet (again) for internet and then 1 mobile on tangerine as they do the Apple Watch add on for the wife and then iinet for mine
Save a grand a year basically -
@Brian yeah vodaFAIL is pretty much non exsistent in rural areas. even city limits. have to say Telstra are decent out in the bush but they're ridiculous in pricing. damn iinet is a name I have not heard in awhile. good to see they're going well for you
-
@Giles I can imagine. haven't had a look at prices but there's news that SQ and all that are increasing prices cause they fly a different route and demand is basically soaring..
you could fly to Indonesia via singapore you know. just putting it out there..
not sure the fishes will be very much alive in April if things continue...

Some lady across from my office who gives me shit all the time laid on the horn at me this morning because I happened to be standing near the apron to her parking lot while I was on a call. It would have slowed her down by about one second, if that.
Honestly, what a shitty way to start the morning. Just laying on the horn for no reason other than wanting to be a jerk.
I am not religious and I am not even sure I would say I am spiritual, but I do try to give people grace. The whole do unto others as you would have them do to you thing actually matters to me. It just makes me shake my head how miserable some people must be to start their day acting like that.

@northsouthdenimguy Had this same kinda thing the other day sat at a set of lights. Went to pull away only to find my bike wasn't quite in gear, it happens - to rectify this just means pulling the clutch back in, giving it a bit of extra toe on the shifter and it thunks into 1st properly and you set off, this process takes ~1 second.
In the ~1 second it took me to do this the guy behind is straight on his horn, just why!? what did it achieve? I'm on a bike so it would've been plain that i was getting into gear.. crazy..

Not gonna lie, I’ve probably been a little aggressive in the past about people being too slow. But I think you get to a certain age where those things just don’t matter anymore, and you realize it’s better to slow down yourself and have a little patience.

I remember the first time I went to Japan, maybe 35 years ago (so things might have changed) and when I was being driven around during peak traffic, people would be honking regularly.
However, they were honking to tell people that you can turn in front of them or let them pass or any other helpful offer. I was blown away. What is this crazy polite kind behavior I was asking myself.
Sorry for the rant

-
@Ross someone doing that is guaranteed to make me pull away slower just to piss them off more.

I know capitalism is what it is, but there's been a recent spate of people's opinions in the 'heritage clothing' being swayed by free stuff. There have been others in the past, but currently it's a label called Brake House who look to be ripping off other peoples designs (Freewheelers especially) with some misleading marketing too. I've seen people whose content I've enjoyed in the past suddenly reviewing this brand, with varying degrees of honesty about how they got it.
I'm not sure what I expect from people and companies at this point, but I enjoy the kind of clothing we talk about here because it's well made and not offshored and corners cut to make a few extra quid, so brands trading on that dishonestly is a bit galling.
-
The influencer side of it also does not really surprise me. If someone is spending hours putting out content every week, it makes sense that at some point they will try to monetize their time. It is not something I would do, but I can understand it.
At the end of the day this whole space is still a niche within a niche, and I doubt many people are actually confusing a few hundred dollar jacket with a high end one. At this point I am mostly indifferent to it.

Echoing all of the other FedEx complaints. My pack has been stuck in New Jersey since the 17th
(not IH) -
Was just FedEx on my list(lost Vibergs)now
I’ve added USPS. Good Art Ring ordered three weeks ago has been missing for two weeks, it’s been in Atlanta since the 12th of Feb with no update.Just ordered a pair of sunglasses the other day I won’t be surprised if those never make it, especially if they use one of those two.

That's tragic. Did FedEx return your Vibergs back to the sender?

@Jord Hah! I had an absolute fit about this a few weeks ago. My lazy, unhealthy neighbors let their dogs of the leash in our shared green and just leave the shit. They always do it, but this time he excuse was "the snow is hard to walk in.". Mind you, not to be mean, but these people would have a challenging time walking with no snow. A hill would do them in. I have kids. They play outside. I walk my dog there on a leash which is actually the law. It's disgusting to do this to a shared space. I picked it all up, took a pic of myself holding the neighborhood bag of dog shit, and sent it to the neighbor chat with the message "time to act like adults.". I was livid. I haven't seen an errant pile since. Lazy, selfish slobs. Lol
