Sat in the sofa talking to Hot Ingrid and I ask what she’s doing on her phone. “Research for Black Friday”, she says. There’s me thinking Black Friday was yesterday and thank fuck I was done with it. But nooooo, turns out we now have Black Week, (bit racist, but besides the point). So I’ve fielded about 20 spam emails, suffered countless ad’s on assorted platforms, and the cunting day is still a week off?! Fuck. That. Shit.
As of now I will treat any brand, channel, outlet, shoving Black Fucking Friday in my face, the same way I treat cold callers. That is to say I will less than politely invite them to lick my chocolate starfish, or face the consequences of being gently shagged sideways with a cricket bat, (for everyone not originating from the UK, or former colony of the UK, this is equivalent to be lightly frigged by a baseball bat, only much less comfortable). Modern life is rubbish.

Its the same as Christmas sales, firework night, Halloween…..all stretched out for weeks before and after

It takes about half a minute. I used to set-up an auto answering saying I was "away exploring Mars"… I reckon most of 'm gave up after that...
The less time and energy I have to waste, the better. I also find the idea that my not answering them and thus frustrating them endearing.
(I also love looking up people on Facebook and blocking them pre-emptively…)

I use this ethical search engine. I get f all black Friday promo emails, or any other algorithm based shite, and they invest ethically, and pay their taxes…
The only sales promo emails I get are Iron Heart, Rivet and Hide, Hennie Haynes, and Jura Watches. Because I subscribe. Other than that, the Internet can suck it. I don't have one single social media account. I don't even know what FOMO is!

Agreed on all this Black Friday and Christmas stuff. I love Christmas…. But it comes after Thanksgiving.
And I've gotten to the point where I basically boycott Black Friday. I don't do any clothes shopping for myself and about the only thing I'll look to see if there is a deal on is random stuff for my bikes (bicycles not motor).
We're borderline getting to the point where holiday sales start in the summer and 'Black Friday Doorbusters' start at like 3PM on Thanksgiving day!

In reference to Black Friday… Your online data profiles are weaponised against you, and other consumers. Use browsers that don't use data and share it with 3rd parties, regardless of your security and profile settings. The Internet WAS a force for good, but it has been wholesale hijacked
