Personal experience over reviews every day. Most folks seem to like that Duchesse beer which I think tastes like it's been filtered through a donkeys sweat gland  😠

      Delicious, delicious donkey sweat. 🙂

But you're right- reviews are only useful if you have similar tastes as the writer.  Someone who loves pilsners isn't going to get anything useful from a reviewer who exclusively drinks porters and stouts.

Well you don't go by one review of course… But if a beer gets an avg score of say 98% after several hundred reviews, then I'm inclined to believe it's rather good... IF it falls into the categories of beer one prefers, of course... A 5% porter could get a perfect score but I wouldn't wanna try it...

It was quite interesting. The first beer I had so far that really reminded me of isla whiskys. Very strong peat smoke, but not much behind that. Was more like a light whisky dram than beer. But definitely different than the francoinan smoked beers. For a whisky fan nice, not necessarily for a beer lover.

          > I don't care what people say.. The Max Power way is the right way…

Was able to buy a case of Westvleteren XII. Not cheap @100 € but 4 €/ bottle is about half what you pay for online…

And I'm way stoked to finally get to cellar some of these bastards...  🙂

              Eli.

Fuck me I could sell these for 15 € a pop... Not that I will/ would, of course...  🙂

Edit: I'm an eejit... They use a different dating technique... 2016 = fresh batch  😞 Ah well I'll cellar 'm meself!..

I've tried it twice or thrice before… Excellent balance... Between Abt 12 and R10... But not 100 % my thing... I hope cellaring it will improve it...

                        Yes: I'm picky...

Well you just gave it a comparison to two of my favourite brews, so that gives it a thumbs up from me.

                                        Family beer. Like that.
When the 8 left should survive till 2016, store them in your fathers cellar. 😉

                                          Last weekend I enjoyed "Braukunstkeller".
This is an West Coast IPA combined with brown german and pils malt.
Beatiful hopped and not as fruity as expected.
