Managed the tricky feat of picking up a bottle of Amundsen’s End of Darkness #1  a month or so back. I’ve subsequently heard bad things and decided to cellar it. Then I got an option on another bottle of the same batch and thought, I might as well drink this then decide.

It’s drinkable now but has quite the bitter aftertaste. That’s mostly the cherries I think. The brett isn’t fully developed yet, otherwise it’s thick and oily and not sweet at all. I think I like it and I think with two years on it’ll be great. But it’s also $40 for 250ml…. [emoji849]

Only just noticed that the bbe date on that End of Darkness is this September… is that the brett at work? Either way it puts me off the idea of aging it for two years.

They bought a minor stake in the brewery I work for not to long ago and we've had a good bit of their product come through.  If you see their Sumpin' Easy it's a great IPA…

Last night: The second of Amundsen’s limited release. Only six bottles of this made it north. This one was actually worth the money and fuss it took to get it. Glorious.

I’m unsure how it works. Norway is EEA has kept it’s duty laws making shopping alcohol across borders impractically expensive. I thought it was free movement within the EU proper.
